My attempt at titanium head pipe straighting by freezer method.

Ya I saw that thread Rez, and read other ones as well. I found less on the titanium but still found some info and with good results. But not the same results as you would get with aluminum. Again, I think the shape of the dent matters too. My fingers are crosssed and I plan on giving it multiple tries. I will post up a pic after each session.

hey that's awesome sun, on the next cycle. I remember some say bigger dents take two or three freeze cycles, looking good so far, I with you on the caping it off. If it swells enough to move that dent that much. I imagine it would split the ends if it was completely full.

Thanks. Ya Im going to give it multi tries. And I dont want split ends:naughty: I have enough of those on my head:smirk:

Remember that the ice expansion puts force on the entire pipe, not just the dent. The danger is splitting a seam in another place or just bending the it so it will not fit back on the bike. You first cycle looks good. Don't over do it trying to get the dent out 100%.

You can make Crème brûlée with an acetylene torch, but flame control is at a premium. :smirk:

That is looking like progress to me. A couple more freezes and you may be good to go. I was thinking about that capping both ends and filling to the ends and thought, what if the whole pipe just straightened out. Just a stupid thought.

I am curious about what would happen now if I capped it. Dont think I will try it though.

Ok, here it is after two freezer sessions. It looks so much better:banana: This is working out pretty well afterall. So do I do it again?

So now the question is how perfect will it get? Hmmmm:thinking:
I guess it isnt hurting anything. Maybe I should see if it still fits on the bike first:lol:

I would call it a day. All the dents are almost gone and what is left is not going to have any power loss. I say mount it back up and ride:thumb:

Ya that is sort of what I was thinking. I dont know how well that dent up against the weld will pop if at all anymore. And then the ding dent on the other side of the big dent never did budge.

I agree. It looks like the final product is a good one. :thumb: What ever is left as an impression is not going to affect anything other than ego. I would put it back on and ride. Let us know that it fits properly.

Man oh man! Im itching to ride! :wiggle::hyper::ride:

Now I need to mount the pipe, pour some oil in it, oh and probably put my battery on the charger, I expect it to be dead. Then I will cross my fingers my oil issue was only a over fill issue and it all going to be ok. If only I could fix all my bike problems by sticking things in the freezer:smirk:
I have more finger crossing ahead and then hopefully a good ride:thumb: Gosh, Im getting sort of excited. Could I really be riding this week? Figures there is a heat wave right now. That's ok, dawn Patrol baby!:ride:

Yes impression, that is the word I was looking for:prof:
No ego here, only "wing it" mode:goofy:
It is always a relief when "wing it' works:thumb:

I is a pretty damn good Job Sun. pat yourself on your back and ride that thing till it hurts  oh wait... ride that thing like the wind, that sound a little better :thumb:
