Well I guess I'm going full throttle again! Ended up buying a whole wiseco top end along with the wiseco bottom end. When I pulled the head the rings are sort of melted into the piston, and something even weirder: there was a piece of metal that appeared to have shot right into the piston and is sticking out the top! I'll send a pic of it tomorrow. Never seen anything like it. Good news is the cylinder is smooth as glass. So this engine is now getting a complete rebuild. I'm also doing the same for my kx65. The bottom end on both bikes are completely worn out bad. There's a ton of play in the rod and a lot of small flakes of metal. Parts should be in Wednesday so I hope to do it Wednesday and Thursday. Hopefully I can get it all done by the weekend so I can ride. It's my first rebuild so I hope nothing goes wrong...
