Other Kawasaki Kx80 build

well it took all day but I got the engine off of it and my other project bike I'm working on (it's a 2000 kx65). Took so long cause I couldn't get the main engine bolt out I spent 2 hours constantly beating it with a hammer and it finally came out. Now my wrist feels like it's gonna fall off and my back too

I'm guessing this was the swingarm bolt?
I hope you've already ordered a new one with correct nut and washer!

Well I guess I'm going full throttle again! Ended up buying a whole wiseco top end along with the wiseco bottom end. When I pulled the head the rings are sort of melted into the piston, and something even weirder: there was a piece of metal that appeared to have shot right into the piston and is sticking out the top! I'll send a pic of it tomorrow. Never seen anything like it. Good news is the cylinder is smooth as glass. So this engine is now getting a complete rebuild. I'm also doing the same for my kx65. The bottom end on both bikes are completely worn out bad. There's a ton of play in the rod and a lot of small flakes of metal. Parts should be in Wednesday so I hope to do it Wednesday and Thursday. Hopefully I can get it all done by the weekend so I can ride. It's my first rebuild so I hope nothing goes wrong...

Just remember to break her in before you give it the onion

It will be interesting to see the picture. It can be something that used to be a needle from the bearing or a part of the cage. I saw one that a friend keeps around that had a piece of the casting off the rod that made it's way up there.

be careful with the power valve assy, it requires a special prep to make it go back together and will break if not done right.........this is what Ive read. I have an 02 KX100 and read this while making the purchase.
