On the fly

Oh, I have jumped ahead already and forgot to mention that Michelle and I spent Friday on the lake at Tahoe. It was beautiful! It was around 85 degrees and we had a great time. She is an old friend I dont see often so it was nice to sit there and catch up. There was this kite surfer that kept going by and getting huge air. Every time I tried to film him in the air he wouldnt do it:rant: He sailed by like a dozen times. Finally two guys walk by and just as they get in front of me the kite surfer gets air! This guy had some huge hang time in the air. Some of the longest I've ever seen. This clip isnt one of his better flights. Pay attention and you may see him. I sure would like to try that sport. It looks like so much fun!

I love Lake Tahoe:hail:

You can see the ski runs on the Mt. at Heavenly on the South Shore.

I'll probably be inserting stuff I over looked like this. How would you like to have one of these things to camp in?

Left the "Pre Burn" AKA "Controlled Burn" at 10pm in bed by 11. Got to Neil's and off we went to an area called "Prosser." We parked in an area that seemed random to me but it seemed to be the correct place to park. There were a few others there with bikes both Mt. and Dirt. IT IS SO PRETTY THERE! Before I left I had noticed the valve stems on my bike were both crooked. I was told it was because Im not running enough air pressure. I typically ran 12-13lbs on my 250 and never had a problem but I guess on a 450 you want at the very least 15lbs.. So, last minute before I left town I had to drop off my bike and pay to have both tubes straightened out:rolleyes: LAME! I was bummed because I had to pay 45.00 for my stupid mistake.

Here is the staging area

I just love it up there. Your right, just plain beautiful! Gull is such a neat, quiet place. It was nice to sip coffee and watch the calm water and people fish. Hard to believe places like that still exisit and arnt spoiled being so close to Los Angeles. No dirty diapers or beer cans laying around.

I have never been to Gem lake. I would like to check that out sometime. How far of a hike was it? We started to head to Fern lake while being eatten alive by bugs but turned around when some back packers said we still had about a mile up hill to go. We wernt prepared for it so we turned around.

how far? Tooooooooo far...honestly I have no idea...we first come to Lower Clark lake, had a bear visit the area during the wee hours of the am...kind of put a scare in us so we decided to head down but a different way which led us to Gem lake...had to cross a stream (over a small bridge), heard a loud rumble and came across a waterfall going into Gem lake. The water was emerald green...enough of that...nice pics...

This area was heaven on earth! Meadows, tight trails, wild flowers and water. I was so excited to be up there riding!
Here are some random clips compiled together. No moving shots because I wasnt going to slow the ride down trying to get some. Mostly shots from when we stopped. Some of the clips I have accidently put my finger over the mic.. Oh well...you get the jist. And yea....my trip started with a front flat from the valve stem breaking. We rode about 25 miles and I noticed the flat. So we rode back to camp and Scott fixed it for me. I cant say enough about nice people like Scott willing to fix a flat for me. Scott is Neil's friend and his wife Sherry also rode with us. They are both excellent riders and racers. Right away we started having fun and just gelled. I also called the shop who "fixed" my tube issue and told them to note :rant:my account because they owe me one.

Back at the truck where Neil shares a sign. He likes to go into mines and all kinds of crazy exploring. His photos are amazing of some of his adventures. Including bats flying around his head in a mine.

I'll have to research that for the future. Bear:shocked: What a nice surprise finding that lake must of been!

is so freaking awesome

Yea Trav, those Euro campers are interesting to say the least. Im assuming that one I posted is a pop up? Here is one that a guy I know has restored. It is a military version. He is Swiss. Im not sure what make, model or year this is but he fixed it up real nice. He brought it out to my friend's ranch for a weekend party. He parked way on top of the hill above the ranch. I wish I took a pic of it on the inside. He painted the walls and refrigerator with a desert scene. Here is his rig.

It was a great day and ride. My arms were feeling it. We took a trail called Lloyd's. I think I would say it was my favorite even though it owned me in one section. Rocky and sort of steep. I only dumped it one time that day and it was in that section. By the time I got to that section I was spent. I should be pumping iron so I can hang in the tight stuff longer on this big heavy to me bike. But I did pretty damn good considering I was riding with the 2stroke club:ride: They were all discussing what to take me on before I came up. I think they figured I may not want to do Lloyds but then saw the smile on my face that didnt go away and figured the Sun is shining today!

When we got back to the trucks we saw a quad I just had to have!

We loaded up and went into Truckee to eat a big mexican dinner. Followed by Ice Cream for some.
IMG_6645.jpg

I should have taken a pic of the back of this Ice Cream Parlor. The back of it was a tackle shop:lol: Im dead serious.

We walked around and took in the sights of down town Truckee. A cool little town. My Hub and I Honeymooned in Tahoe. We went Hot Air ballooning in Truckee. I liked some of the art work on the street they had.
