The MX Track - How was your day today?

Pics or GTFO!
I also went to the track today, also enjoying the low morning temps (70) for the first time since April.
3 months not riding, so I brought the kids 125 (he ain't riding it).
Track was muddy AF.
The bike was last ridden in Aug 2019, 110 degrees.
Went out after warmed, and it had a big fat dead spot if you hammered it.
It would rev and make good power if you came on easy.
Pulled into the pits and pulled the plug, looked fatish.
Pulled the desert tank and checked the clip position, 2nd from the top.
Not too sure what to do now, but it needs maintenance. Rear sprocket is shot, rear shock is probably blown, bottomed the forks and left is leaking...
Packed it up at 9:30 and hung with some friends til about 11:00 then left.

Hope you heal up soon John!

AZ bike week starts Oct 7 thru 11.
My best bud from back home is showing up on the 7th.
I'd like to show him a nice ride, and your area is nice that time of year.
You available?
We'll be on Harleys (wont hold that against you if you're not), and a ride would be cool...
Let me know.

Sight lap , very important , Even on your own property .... I knew the guy's were building the game fence , but I thought they would have better sense than to throw logs into the trail ....... of course in a spot not visible until it was too late .... really busted my ass , collarbone , busted my saftey goggles , really screwing up my face.... road rash both arms , Assholes ,, they got a good ass chewing next morning ..... Did'nt help anything ...... Still dumbasses ... can't fix stupid ..... Always sight lap.. And hire good help ......

I doubt it, but you can always cruise by for a lemon aid. Sold the biggest bike I have, now only 250cc.

Hey y'all.
Been a crazy year ain't it?
I've been down for the most of it, and now I might be on the up. We'll see. I haven't worked since Feb 28th.
But I might have a new lucrative gig lined up...one that actually involves MX, and a departure from skydiving. I'll keep y'all posted.
If what I think is happening, its gonna be super awesome, just gotta let it mature.

What I know for sure is that we had 50 days of over 110 degree summer this year. We smashed the record of 32 set back in 2011.
And we're now still not very cool right now (was 101 today), but the lows are around 60-65.
And that means MX weather if you get to the track early.

I will be joining my local buddy Danno this weekend at Motoland, my home track.
Danno, who owns the 83 CR480 that I got running and crashed in my street a few years ago, just drove to CA and picked up a 1989 CR500.
It's nearly mint. I'll post pics tomorrow when he drops it off at my shop to tune it up for Saturday track day.
He dropped off the carb last week, I dipped it, and tonight he showed up with the rebuild kit.
I love this carb.
Screw on tops are awesome IMO.
Tomorrow we're gonna rebuild the shock, install the carb, and get her ready for Saturday morning.
I'm gonna make sure sure I dont take her her for a test ride down my street. I learned that lesson the hard way a few years ago on his 480.
(Although this model has disc brakes as opposed to the 83's drums...)

After 2nd thought,
Maybe I will ride it...
Now that I think about it, who are we kidding?!
Of course I'm gonna take that thing out for a ride!
I just wont crash this one into the curb this time.

We'll be taking his CR500 and the kids YZ125 to the track Saturday morning.
Looking forward to riding both.

Pics coming tomorrow...

Where oh where are the pics?

Where oh where are the pics?
Here is a crappy one.
We got it running, this thing spanks!
I took it for a ride around the block...I never took it out of first gear.
It was super dark, and I was very concerned about coming off the backend and launching it into a car.
This is probably the most insanely quick bike I've ever ridden.
Not sure I need to again.

When it pulled it in from around the block the rear brakes were dragging heavy.
After an hour of monkeying with it we determined that a master and caliper rebuilt kit were in order.
He wasn't getting to the track, so I decided to sleep in this morning and go tomorrow.

Be sure to get video of the crash , ..... You can't handle the 250 ..... This should be good ...... LOL ..... BE CAREFUL , IT'S STILL 2020 .......
I'll ride it once at the track next weekend. Let that rear tire spin on the dirt, not the asphalt like last night.
Then I'll go back to the Yamaha's until I get my KX fixed.
Wont be any crashes this time.

Let's hope not .. don't get crazy with that thing .. they are a handful .. ... I've been lucky / more careful since my last crash in Feb. Right shoulder pretty well healed up , but left is stii needing rehab. Just need more riding time , but grandson is working on his stock car and I just don't like riding alone ...
