125 89 YZ125

Thanks Red!
That is some solid advice, and is kinda how I been going about this project.
I'm old enough to know better now. Got 30+ years experience turning wrenches. I'm guessing that since both floats are at about 22mm, that that is probably my target setting. If I'm wrong, I'm pretty sure I'll figure it out.
That $350 cr80 cylinder meltdown I did on the kids bike last year taught me TONS!!! My EARS are properly trained now! I wont make that mistake again.

And since that stupid rookie mistake, I've realized that carb theory & tuning is a bit like guitar intonation. There are lots of factors in play to achieve a subjective end result.

But one SOLID thing I've learned, is that FLOAT HEIGHT setting is paramount, and starting point square one. No sense doing anything if that ain't right.

Thanks Mike, but I dont think so. I spent some time looking there before, but Its too old. They didn't even really have computers or the internet back then, so I'll probably have to get an actual paper copy.
No worries, though. I'll figure it out.
I still need to find a couple more things for it anyway, so it wont be running til next week some time. And thats fine, cuz I got the kiddos 125 to assemble as well. Cylinder should be here this week.

And then the 400, then the kxf, then the 250, then the shadow, should probably put the a/c belt in my car soon...fix the kids bicycle...

Sorry I was still on the wr400 thread. I have a manual I think.

Looks like a 1993 YZ250 came with that carburetor OEM.

Float height is in the chart on page 231. -BIG DAN:thumb:
Thanks Dan! That looks like the same carb. Adjustments should be same or similar I would think, yes?

No worries, I knew what you were thinking. Ive been to that site lots, just didn't have the time to sift through it all. Apparently BigDan does though :thumb:.

Looks like a different carburetor from original equipment.
FUEL LEVEL is described on page 234 of the manual for a 1989 YZ125.

Actually, the links you provided SAY they're for an 1989 YZ125, but really they're for an 05 and 06. I'm pretty sure the carb I have, a Mikuni TM, is the correct carb for this bike. But I appreciate you taking the time to do some digging for me!

Big Dan got game :thumb:
I’m in the middle of demoing/remodeling my 1st floor so I didn’t have a chance to look for my manual. I can send Gary over and he will give you a manual....:banana:

You are 100% incorrect, as you were the time before regarding manual years. We can go through it page by page together if you'd like to see how it works.
These are for the 1989 and no other years. U, V, W
Same for the YZ250 E manual I posted. It is only for that year.
