All Time to gear up for the desert Thanksgiving 2015

All I can say is I told you so:

THE EXACT DETAILS ON ITS INTENSITY AND TRACK ARE DIFFICULT TO IRON
OUT YET...BUT THERE IS NO QUESTION THAT THIS STORM WILL BRING A
HEALTHY DOSE OF WATER INTO MUCH OF DROUGHT STRICKEN CA NEXT WEEK...
RAIN IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS AND HEAVY SNOW OVER THE HIGH SIERRA.
THAT IS THE GOOD NEWS. BUT THE STORM COULD NOT BE COMING AT A
WORSE TIME...ON TWO OF THE BUSIEST TRAVEL DAYS OF THE YEAR...
TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. ITS PRECIPITATION WILL OVERSPREAD THE CWA
NORTH OF KERN COUNTY TUESDAY AND OVER THE REMAINDER OF THE CWA
EXCEPT THE DESERT TUESDAY NIGHT. THE BULK OF ITS RAIN AND SNOW
WILL COME WEDNESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT AS THE STORM MOVES
DIRECTLY OVER CENTRAL CA. DURING THIS TIME...ARCTIC AIR
ACCOMPANYING THIS STORM WILL BRING SNOW LEVELS DOWN TO 2500-3500
FEET. THIS WILL OBVIOUSLY POSE A TRAVEL HAZARD FOR FOLKS THAT HAVE
DESTINATIONS IN ANY DIRECTION OUT OF THE SJ VLY PRIOR TO
THANKSGIVING. THIS INCLUDES HIGHWAYS THROUGH THE COASTAL RANGES TO
THE WEST...FOOTHILLS TO THE EAST AND SOUTHWARD OVER THE GRAPEVINE
AND THROUGH TEHACHAPI PASS INTO THE DESERT. ADDITIONALLY...THE
ATMOSPHERE WILL BE UNSTABLE ENOUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON TO PRODUCE
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH SMALL HAIL IN THE SJ VLY AND FOOTHILS.
THE KERN COUNTY DESERT MIGHT ALSO RECEIVE SOME SHOWERS
WHERE IT WILL BE COLD ENOUGH FOR A DUSTING OF SNOW OVER THE
HIGHER RIDGES ABOVE THE DESERT FLOOR.

I can not believe all the action and bantering on this thread. :noidea: Must be everyone is out having a good time, one place or another. We are gone tomorrow morning, jackets and all the good stuff and I plan on seeing some of you fine members out in the dez. If not, have a great TDay. :thumb:

Well my trip sucked....had all kinds of difficulties getting ready with the motorhome, wife n I both sick, finally got down there Wed at 330. Wind like a B atch that nite.

Thur was nice. My daughter was told she would have Fri n Sat off. But, her boss didn't come back to work like she was supposed to so she was screwed. She left town at 4am with 22 mo old baby and showed up at 8am. Baby was sick and got real sick by dinner time. She had to be at work Fri morn so she left. Baby got so sick by the time she got home she took him to the hosp and he was admitted with difficulty breathing.

So, back to Thur. Went out for first ride at about 1100. Got out there and guy I was with tipped over and holed his ignition cover on his YZ450-no skid plate. Oil pouring out. Had him flop it on its side to save the oil. Got out my 2 part Steel putty and mixed it up. Cleaned the oil off the case with gas and stuck on a glob of steel. This all took 45 min with cure time. Started bike up and rode it easy back to camp with the low oil. It never leaked and he kept riding it. 13.7 mi trip..............

My wife decides we have to return to Fresno due to our grandson being in the hospital. So, at 1005 Fri morn we hit the road home. He gets out of hosp at 2pm. We take him for Fri nite and all day Sat so daughter could go to work on Sat.

What a FUNNNN trip it was. Next trip for us will be Wilsons day.

Mike, sounds like a shitty deal for you and your gang, hope everyone is getting better. We showed up at Prospectors Wednesday early afternoon and yes it was a bit breezy but nice. Our group had some great rides and everything went nice, just some chilly evenings and nights, like 28 degrees. I saw Mr. Wilson Saturday afternoon and he was telling us about the next event at FB Field, sounds like fun. Maybe you should come and join our group next time, Geek Rack and all the other peeps.

we got some rain out in OW this past week. i showed up friday and it had rained the day before. as we were driving down the highway i kept pointing out LOOK CAN YOU SEE THE TRACK HAS A DIFFERENT COLOR? got out and front end felt all light... it was great.

Hope everyone's Thanksgiving went well! It's been a while since I stopped by here but hope to ride with you guys again. My brother and I did the LA to Vegas DS ride Thanksgiving weekend. Great time! *We are the riders in the middle*
