One Sticker Too Many

I arrived on Monday. On the drive down, there were a couple of times when I thought I saw timoyz's and Rolls' motorhome but when I got closer it wasn't them. It was about 1300 and they were supposed to be out there before noon anyway so it couldn't possibly be them. Though I told TWS I would be there 0900 :bonk:. I missed the turnoff for the casino/gas station just like last time and ended up at the gas station a few miles down the road. I pulled up to see timoyz toping off his tank. Slacker :smirk:. They headed out while I grabbed a bite. I met up with them again just as they were pulling off the 78 onto Cahuilla.

We set up shop. I was itching to ride so I suited up and played in the hills near camp. I snapped a pick and noticed the battery was low so I was pretty stingy with the photos from then on.

TWS and I went off for a quick trip to the pumpkin patch. It was nice with hardly anyone out and about.

Didn't fire off another until the next day on our arrival at the Blue Inn for breakfast. Timoyz patched up his crash job covering up the dba sticker in the process .

We made it to the bridge in good time but not after some hesitation to take the wash due to the mud. I guess they didn't want to get their bikes too dirty too soon :noidea:. We were greeted by a nice welcome message and some nice views of the mountains against a clear blue sky.

We took a short break and admired the art work.

The bullet holes are a nice touch.

Getting ready for the next leg hoping that if we come upon some of the above that we find it before it finds us.

This is the most spectacular spot in PG. Rolls was hanging out near the edge of the 200+ ft drop but I was too slow to get him there. You can just barely see him in the middle right. There are some nice views after but this area was neat. The battery died right after this shot .

As always, it was a blast :ride: and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Friday, Day 5

I've got shots of Babes, but this was a 1st AM ritual, Cooney doin work!

NewYearsOW2011161.jpg

After the AM entertainment, the 3 of us went virgin wash hunting. First stop was to readjust my shifter, that I changed that morning.
NewYearsOW2011162.jpg

TWS admiring the view.
NewYearsOW2011163.jpg

Not too far down the trail, the fresh washes started popping up.

Where we came from.

NewYearsOW2011165.jpg

Where we're headed.
NewYearsOW2011166.jpg

Eventually, the wash we were in, took us to the 86.
NewYearsOW2011168.jpg

To get past the highway, you'll have to ride a short, gnarly section of boulders, then jump down a 5 foot drop off.
NewYearsOW2011169.jpg

I'll return someday, and take it a little farther.:prof:
NewYearsOW2011167.jpg

We turned around, and took another finger of the wash, until I could hop out, and see where we were.
Where we came from.
NewYearsOW2011171.jpg

I barely missed a small dirt nap here.

Where we're headed.
NewYearsOW2011172.jpg

Those where the last pictures from the trail that day. It was another 30+ mile day, with shat loads of virgin washes, and no other riders in site. That is, until we got back closer to Pole Line.

Being New Years Eve, major festevities were planned.

Sawyer, emptying the large wine bottle.
NewYearsOW2011178.jpg

He said, he was trying to spit it in the fire, and try to make it ignite. :smirk:
NewYearsOW2011177.jpg

The seven Christmas trees, ready to go.
NewYearsOW2011179.jpg

Ignition!
NewYearsOW2011181.jpg

We were only 1 for 3, on the Mickey/Sobe bombs, and I didn't get any shots of the attempts.:noidea:

Here's TWS lighting the last of Trav's fireworks.
NewYearsOW2011182.jpg

After that, yes, at 9:00, I went to bed. I needed to get ready for my big day,

coming up next. :picard:

I hope you get to the "big day" today. We are all at the edge of our seat. By the way, are you sure you named Sawyer right? Looks more like Sagger!  My 17yo Thomas is the same, should have named him Half Mast, because his pants are never at waste line. :naughty::foul::smirk:

 I wasn't going to say anything.

 Yeah come on Tim, post up the grand finale we've all been waiting for. :smirk:

Saturday, day 6

Go home day, and being sore from the rest of the trip, Me n my Bro, went for a quick loop to the untouched washes, on the East end by the 86 again. Not much pictures from that day.

One of the X, getting a battery charge.
NewYearsOW2011185.jpg

One of the many new "un"-stickered signs. :smirk: This is the new Artesian Wells.
NewYearsOW2011186.jpg

From there it was straight to the washes.
NewYearsOW2011187.jpg

Rolls just went down, notice the fresh mud on his right hand guard. :P
NewYearsOW2011188.jpg

The last in the wash shot.

Where we're headed.
NewYearsOW2011189.jpg

Not too long after that, we got out and started across the top, back to camp. This was at Oil Well Wash. I just thought it was a cool sight. Almost Grand Canyonish.

The last self portrait. :busted:

From there, it was a short, but dangerous ride back to camp through the park. I almost got into a collision 8 times, in that short 10 minute ride. We cooked the last breakfast, packed, said our goodbyes, and got the heck out of there. Not being satisfied with the amount of stickers I had left, I stopped on the way out, just short of the highway.
NewYearsOW2011193.jpg

I think it came out good. :thumb:

This guy didn't think so. :picard:

Before I knew it, there were 5 more Rangers there. He ran my DL#, and found out I have a warrant, out of Fontana, from 2002. I got a ticket for that (which Fontana didn't have anything on record when I called Monday AM :bonk:), my expired MH tags (I know what you're going to say :finger:) and a misdemeanor vandalism. Jackpot! 3 violations, 1 ticket. At least I'm saving trees. :smirk:

So, even with the fine coming in the mail, I still had a most excellent time. I am as you read this, prepping for the run to OW on Presidents Day.

Any one have any extra steeeeeckers?

If you know me, you know that I've had some very memorable New Years trips. Two years ago was the busted arm http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=730306&highlight=, and last year when the minor I was watching was Life Flighted out http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=862724&highlight=, so why should this year not have public service employees involved also. :naughty: So let's get it started...

I have over 190 pictures, and I will probably use them all, so this will be a long drawn out process, so if you have no patience, check back long about Wednesday, and it should be just about done. :finger:
.............................................................................................................
Day 2 coming next...

For all of you with no patience. :finger:
