Yeah I'm a complete noob to bikes and I'm surrounded by people who refer to a carburetor as carbs bc they work on cars more than bikes so it's always plural. But a lack of knowledge doesn't equate to a lack of intelligence. Usually it's my intuition that gets me in trouble that's why I ask a dozen questions. Thanks for dealing with me.

Hey man don't sweat being a noob, the more Q's you ask the less of a noob you become so keep asking!
If you look at the responding members post counts you will see they've been here for a long time and answered many carb Q's over the years, between the replying members they probably currently own 100+ bikes and have worked on thousands over the years so stick about and listen up, get a manual and don't take it that a carb is perfectly clean after just one clean! Most gunk that fouls a carb is so small and clear when washed out that you won't even see it anyway!
Good to hear its running sweet now but please stick to carb cleaner rather than the brake cleaner!

Yeah the acetone is dangerous. Just be careful.

Get a magnifying glass next time you have it apart you will be surprised. I inspect all I remove or plan to remove with one. I have a couple of them and a pair of mag spectacles. When you're dealing with thousandths of an inch you shouldn't expect to be able to see it with your naked eyes. I think I have my head cleaned up and I put on the specs and holy crap there's fuzz and particles everywhere.
The carb cleaner I have contains toluene, acetone keytone etc... I suppose the same chemical needs apply I wouldn't worry too much about it. Use what you like, and when your a veteran at this you will have your own experience and knowledge base on which to rely, and to share.
On another note,
It's the Internet ya know, so you kind of need a thick skin. We may sound like a-holes sometimes but we're just having fun. We really do want to help. (most of the time) the rest of the time were just entertaining ourselves :gayfight:

Been there and paid my dues, import to the U.K. On a random part before the shipping charge is £8 to have a badged HM revenue +customs twat (hopefully a chick:smirk: glance your package) then buttphuck u for 20%vat making a 10 dollar part= seriously $50ish bucks after the seller checks the airmail price for a 10KG parcel :banghead:
Problem is over here we have had since 50 years ago, 3-5% of mx bike turnover compared to the states so all our spares were long gone 5-10 years after the bike was made:banghead:
That's why we will pay £2000 for a cr500 motor :bonk::bonk::bonk:

I'm privy to eBay's better dealer/distributors and how to find them but the issue is with my account. I'm in a dispute with eBay atm because someone used my account to buy $150 worth of ray bans sunglasses. They're trying to say it was legit but the login on the account at the time of purchase wasn't even in my country.

Lol yeah the internet can be a wonderful and terrible place. Thanks for the help. What do you use to get those tiny specks out of the carb? A brush of some sort?
