On the fly

SO lets see...we wrapped up our Pine Nuts ride with a nice birthday lunch at a hole in the wall. I couldnt have asked for a better birthday then spending it on the bike with nice, fun people. It was another great ride and by now I was really feeling it in my arms, or not feeling them because they turned to rubber.

So...on to Monday...I spent the day with Michelle again. This time we went to another lake. Lake Pyramid just outside of Reno. It is a giant desert lake that reminds me of Lake Powell or Mead. I wish we had had a boat for the day. The beach was barren and hot. It would have been nice to be on the water and exploring the lake. But regardless, it was a nice time kicking back. EXCEPT, this freaking cop that wouldnt go away! He rolled up on us (sneak attack) and made me paranoid. He wouldnt leave us for a long time and just kept talking to us about everything he could think of. We kept trying to wrap up the conversation but he just didnt get it! And he also insisted we get a permit to sit next to the lake. I should of insisted he get a permit to sit there and talk to us. This video may put you to sleep:snore: Because there are no dirt bikes in it. Just :blah::blah::blah:

sun has the best RR of the year so far :thumb:

as for that cop... WHAT A JOKE!!!!

i was in catalina and had a guy tell me and my wife we had to pay to walk on the beach... so i walked around his booth instead of in front of it and went and sat on the beach... what ever happened to this land is my land, this land is your land?

Sun for President. :thumb: Great RR, love it from top to bottom.

Gee thanks. Your right, I should run for President. Anyone is better then the one we have now!

Thanks Travace. That is a joke! Was it a private beach or cove on the island? I was told down by the waterline at any ocean is public domaine. I often walk the "private" beaches of Malibu. Many of the homes there have signs on the beach that say "private" "no trespassing," yet there are public access gates in a few places inbetween the homes. Im not sure what the laws are exactly. It is sort of confusing but I do believe the waterline is where it becomes public. Yet how do we get to the waterline if we dont walk on the beach?:noidea: I like that you went on the beach anyways:thumb:

Whats with your ankle? That's weird you dont have any pain. Are you riding tomorrow on it?

i honestly thought it was just the guys who rent out the boogie boards from a small hut trying to make some extra cash. I pretty much told the dude to fuck off and walked right behind the hut... i wasnt sneaky about it or anything he seen me do it and never said a dam thing.

hell yes im riding tomorrow, your neck of the woods... LPNF and it looks like 4 or 5 DBA'ers will be there as well :rocker: ill prolly throw my knee pads on tho. i never wear them and i definitely should be.

Good for you Trav! I bet he was trying to make a buck.
Yeah...you all go ahead and ride without me:cry: I so wanted to head up, but my back is screaming. I actually washed my gear and cleaned my oil filter thinking I would, but then decided I better not. I could probably get through the ride ok, but I wouldnt be able to walk or get out bed for a week after that. My back is strained and is just barely starting to feel better. I look forward to hearing all about it. I so wish I could be a part of the maiden voyage for those who have never been. Not to mention the fun you all are gonna have. Glad you wearing the knee pads. What about those elbows?

back to the scheduled program:smirk:
After our day at Lake Pyramid we went back to Michelle's house and I had just enough time to grab my stuff and head out the door to do an evening ride with Neil at Hungry Valley (South) not to be confused with Hungry Valley at Gorman. We were on the bikes by about 6pm. It was a warm but pleasant evening. Unfortunately others wernt able to join us. I was feeling stiff and my muscles were tight from the last two days but I wasnt going to pass up one last opportunity to ride Nevada. The ride started with whoops and deep sand that I tractored through slowly. I was riding crappy at first. But really it was those deep sand whoops taking there toll on me I think. I was wishing I had a stabilizer. We finally reach a fence that Neil opened up. For a minute I felt like I was in Baja opening fences to cross ranch land, the only thing missing were the Federales with machine guns. I have never seen an OHV sign behind a cattle fence they expect you to open and close. You can see it in the background. Im surprised they dont have problems with people leaving it open.

I was glad to be out the whoops for a while and on top of a hill.

The riding finally started to get more fun now that we were out of the whoops. Honestly whoops arnt my favorite thing to ride. Especially deep, silty whoops. We dropped down into a wash/ravine that was awesome. This is where I smashed my head pipe. The KLX sits lower then a lot of other 450s I've been on, it least mine does. I think that is part of why I feel so comfortable on it. Im able to have both feet flat on the ground. But also navigating through rocks and dropping down inbetween them it gives me less clearance and just the right big rock can make contact with my pipe. That is how I must of smashed it. Im not sure exactly when I did it. I didnt hear it cause I wear headphones and perhaps I wouldnt anyways. I only fell once during this ride but it was on the other side so Im thinking I may have been in right in this section show below. I wasnt aware of my pipe until we took a break and I that is when I saw I wanted to  Here is the twisty wash ravine that we rode. It has a few rock drops and yep, I chickened out on the big one and fell over on another smaller one. I look like Im posing when I crashed but really Im looking at Neil saying "are you:foul:kidding me? What was that I just did?" I think he got the pic he had been trying for all along:smirk: I was going too slow and didnt let my momentum carry me down it. It was uneven rock and I just tipped over in slow motion:lame: Awesome trail even though a bit over my head in two small sections. But then again I say to myself "it's not over your head Sun, you can ride stuff like this!" But then I still choke:pout:I bet this trail is one of 2smokes favorites seeing as this is his backyard.

This is where I have to confess and come clean. I did a Geek slide down the big drop:blush: It is about 5 feet high and I was going to go for it because I was so mad at myself for not making the last "little" drop but as I said I choked:mad: It's not like I have all this experience launching off things or riding down steep uneven drops. I need to work on those skills.

I also need to go to bed now:bored:it is 1:20am

To be continued....sorry and good night.

Thank you Rack. I have been rolling up my pant leg because I dont have a heat sheild yet and Im melting pants on my head pipe. I have all kinds of melted gunk on it from my pants not to mention I have ruined 2 pairs with massive melt holes. I have had branches get got on those holes too. So now Im rolling them up till I get a heat sheild. Two things I need right away, heat sheild and radiator guards. I just havent gottent them yet. Im thinking I just may make this my signature look and maybe even start a new fad. Come you all, start rollin up those pants!

It is my goal to edit every single page because I am the edit, grammer and punctuation queen. I never did learn it. I was lucky I made it through school period given my situation and messed up schooling. So pardon me for all the mistakes every sentence. I know it must be hard for many of you to read. Not everybody is good at everything. Hopefully you can forgive.

So...lets see...oh yea, "the drop":smirk: This is where I did a "Geek Slide" I'd say it is about a 5' somewhat drop that I wussed on!
