Metal in clutch cover

I was waiting for you for this. I noticed the crankshaft teeth are wore and chipped, and it's a wiseco crank so go figure. I'll be getting a new crank and have some questions. Should I go oem off eBay or hot rods? All my bearings are in great shape and will inspecting everything as the cases get split. Should I be ok with the crank and gasket kit only? Thanks a lot

Wiseco cranks are awesome. So are the hot rods but there is nothing wrong with new oem if the price is right. Best bet is getting the crank kit from either of those 2 manufacturers and if you send yours back to Wiseco they might even warranty it. If you're gonna pull the trigger then always go 100%.

You hear lots if bad things about wiseco crankshafts. I have used a few of their two stroke offerings without any trouble. If you want one to give the same life as factory, then it is hard to beat "factory". Getting a new cam chain gear is a good reason to changeout.

Doesn't sound like the last one gave too many hours or the "scouting report" was bad

How many times have you gone to look at a used bike and they swear its a "New Top-end" or "just rebuilt" lol.

I did get the bike for 1200$. The cylinder and wiseco crank do seem to look fairly new so don't know why teeth were chewed up on the crank. Even with a complete rebuild I hear I still am doing ok price wise but I thought about cutting my losses and getting rid of it. Haven't decided yet, at least throw in a oem crank and that's it.

I have come to like that engine. I don't know what a rig needing head and crank work goes for where you are, but if you knew it needed that here, I see them goin g for less . Once you find what is broken you can have 2200-2500 into something that is a tick slower than stock with a discontinued motor. It's just how a more experienced buyer may look at yours if you sell it.

I won't lie to ya. That is a great reliable motor if you can get this thing back together for around a grand you are doing really well and will have a fantastic bike to boot.

I got my head back and it was 620$ total but now noticing the teeth on the crank are pretty much toast I have to calculate what that repair will cost me. A company on eBay has bottom ends for 400-600. Thought about parting the bike or motor out but dunno if that's a good idea or not.

I think the new Wiseco or hot rod is around 200

Hello! I would like to remain on the outside looking in on this one.
However, 4 stroke rods other than OEM are for selling the bike after rebuild. Like mike said, has valves, ditch it. If it was a WR it might be worth keeping.
Gear, chain, gaskets, seals, get it running, sale.
