What Upgrades Should I Do

Ok thank you Snowflake and Osssagp. Do you know how much it will cost for a suspension re valve? Also Ossagp. I'm new to having a nice bike to ride haha. When I was much younger I had a 50cc Yamaha. When I was either 11 or 12 I got a Honda XR80. Had it for a few years and then sold it. It was pretty must the biggest piece of junk but it was rideable and started everytime on the first kick. I really pushed that bike past it's limits. I also did a lot of riding on my uncles Yamaha 450. Then just a few weeks ago I went out and bought a brand new dirt bike. I'm not new to riding and can ride very well. Just new to wanting to maintain, upgrade, take care and just learn more about my bike. I never changed the oil or anything on my 80. Didn't really realize I had to though at that point. Anyways, now that I have this new bike I want to take excellent care of it and upgrade it. Don't get me wrong, I can change the oil and do basic maintenance on my bike. And when I got the bike the guy that sold it to me went over the bike and everything with me.

I am thinking you might have been better off buying a KTM 150 or 250sx instead of the CRF250 four stroke. One thing for sure is if you bought a 150sx or 250sx. You would not want or need to upgrade anything for a while. As far as power and motor work goes.

This isn't a "what bike should I buy" thread, he already owns the bike.

AJ7GSD, If you do any upgrades to the bike. When you are ready to do upgrade to the bike. Have you looked into an exhaust pipe? Do they sell pipes that use only one silencer instead of two for the 2014 CRF250? If they do that should give you better performance I believe.

He was asking about upgrades. So what I was saying is if he went that route he may not be wanting any upgrades so soon after purchase. I agree with jackson409. NOS!!
He's asking for upgrades on his CURRENT bike not looking to upgrade his bike.

Curious as to what would make you think that? (BTW I personally hate the double cans Honda has)

I have thought about a new exhaust system. That is one thing I really want to do within a few months. And yeah I already have a bike Dennis. Besides that I don't like 2 strokes. And don't get me wrong. My bike has plenty of power and speed. I'm just the kinda guy that likes upgrading stuff that's all.

Aj: If you had been riding for five years straight, winning races at the B level, and hadn't been to At least 2 riding schools I would be telling you the same thing. Most guys that go are REALLY shocked at what they don't know, and how many habits they have that can be corrected.

That is why I asked AJ if he looked into a better exhaust. The twin cans do nothing to improve the power. All they do is increase the cost of buying pipes for it. They look cool on street bikes, is the CRF250f a street bike? NOOO.

Cycra guards are sweet, have them on all my bikes.
Not a fan of dual exhaust either, I do believe there is better performance and lightening up the bike a little in a single.
Gearing would be beneficial.
And of course, suspension tuning as to what has been mentioned.
Nice bike, have fun, be safe.

Ok I am lost here. The only bikes you mentioned were an XR80 and your uncles YZF450. I read your thread as if you just purchased the CRF250r.

I like them too. Moving the weight to the center is all the rage. Yamaha tilted the cylinder, flipped the carburetor and pipe. I think the factory does a very good job building a pipe that runs with the stock engine at the db range they do. But sim any people rush to replace.

I personally like the look of the dual exhaust. And what it does for the bike is lower the center of gravity and makes the bike a little quieter vs a bike with one pipe.
Ok. If you think so. Honda thinks so also. I would think if they really wanted to lower the center of gravity they would have done this instead. Because putting two pipes under the seat just shifts more weight to the rear of the bike.
