I would never go in to a Wilderness area. Oh, and that uphill right next to the grave is a sumbish ain't it. My usual trip up RS, is a ending at Pappy & Harriets. Then on down to Heros for gas, then back to JV with a stop at Giant Rock.

To get to P & H, do you miss all of the stuff by Willie Boys Grave and all of the trails back in there? The only time I have been back in there was when we were trying to find a way back down to get back to Soggy so we weren't in a "recreational" ride mode. More of an "oh shit, how the fuck are we going to get back to the trucks without going back down Rattlesnake". Because that would have been too easy, and that's not the way we roll.

I put in tons of miles in JV and it has a lot to offer. This winter, I am putting the scooter in the truck and heading that way to have a reunion with my old stomping grounds.

im not just trying to slam anyone but 530 has misconceptions of a lot of places. and honestly the whole i pick whats closer is a shitty attitude.. a lot of us travel way farther then GOOD spots to meet up and do these DBA meetings like that.

Trav, I don't have any misconceptions of any place. I have been to all the places many times over many years and most likely way before you ever got on a motorcycle. OW is great, but I don't care for it and I have been there many times. JV is great, but I don't care that much for it and I have been there many times over the years. In fact, I took a day trip out there a year or so ago by myself just to get some riding in but if I am camping in the RV I will most likely not go there. If I am going to camp and ride, I am going to a place that I like. And I don't pick the place that is closer so no shitty attitude there either. If that was the case I would spend all my time at Baldy Mesa and Stoddard Wells but guess what, I don't like those places either.

OW is great, but I don't care for it and I have been there many times. JV is great, but I don't care that much for it and I have been there many times over the years. If I am going to camp and ride, I am going to a place that I like. And I don't pick the place that is closer so no shitty attitude there either. I don't know where you spend most of your time in JV, but when you do go there, the better places are to the very North. I never venture down to Soggy. Camp at Anderson, head to North Anderson and go East and stay in those mountain ranges and there are a lot of nice single track. I don't know the type of riding you like to do, this is single track, but also a bit rocky but not all whooped out, beaten to death shit. You can ride this stuff all the way over to Means and stay way North and there is a lot up there.

Just 2 weeks ago Paul Krause laid out the course for the Rovers race up there and cut a bunch of new stuff. I will say, that is one of the good aspects of JV is that being an "open area" there are new trails opening up when creative clubs put on a race and are willing to put the time and effort into building a course that doesn't utilize the same old beaten shit over and over. I have a couple of friends in the Rovers and they spent a lot of time out there in 100+ degree heat helping putting that together.

Being an owner in JV I love going out there regardless of the terrain... it's open, I can see a long ways from my "front porch". I will say that the group I had grown up with wasn't the adventurous type that you guys are (old lady rides as Timo calls them...short trips out and back) so I am unfamiliar with the area TS is speaking of however I was up in that area last year retrieving a broken down race car... He is right with the mountain ranges... lots of them which leads to more single track type trails or roads which ever you like.

Maybe we can discover some of it at REZ RIDE 2014... .......

Why don't you give us more of an explanation then Jeff.

I just mean depending on where you camp/ride you might think JV is all purple jagged lava rock with steep hills and single track... or you might think it's all flat... or you might think there is lots of sand... or you might think it is all round polished granite great for trials riding. It's a big and diverse place.

I'm at that place in life now where I ride where, when and with whom i want... period. Lifes too short and money is too hard to come by to piss it away following the crowd.

There is an old saying... things look very different on the way out than they do on the way in !

Okay, now we are getting somewhere. I have inquired many times as to where the good stuff is at JV but never got this kind of detail. I was told there is good stuff between Cougar and Slash X but I have not made the journey yet to find it. The area you speak of is something I have never ventured into. I like single track, not crazy about rocks, but I have dealt with it many times. I never knew you could even ride up in that place so now I will have to go there again and ride. I believe I have always been no farther north than Anderson and a few miles east of Soggy and everything between there and Cougar, and of course the Rez.
