South The Official 2013 DBA T-DAY Planning Thread

Okay, now we are getting somewhere. I have inquired many times as to where the good stuff is at JV but never got this kind of detail. I was told there is good stuff between Cougar and Slash X but I have not made the journey yet to find it. The area you speak of is something I have never ventured into. I like single track, not crazy about rocks, but I have dealt with it many times. I never knew you could even ride up in that place so now I will have to go there again and ride. I believe I have always been no farther north than Anderson and a few miles east of Soggy and everything between there and Cougar, and of course the Rez. :thumb:
Well, I haven't ridden to Slash-X from Anderson though. I am not a fan of Bell Mtn/Stoddard/whatevertheshitpeoplewannacallit.

What I am talking about is really North Anderson or just above and then going East. I don't know if this will work or not but here is a GPS track of the National race that was put on out there in January. I was able to load it into my 60CSx and we followed the course.

This is a Google Earth view of the course and where it took you. The mountain range to the North/East had a lot of other single track in it as well. There is also a smaller range to the South/West of it if you can zoom in that has a lot of trails in it.

That is, if both of these links work. I got them off of the District37 site. Google Earth is pretty cool to use to hunt out areas for trail prospecting. Everything is legal from a few hundred feet in the air:devil:

 This thread is 5 Star worthy. So by "Planning Thread" you guys actually mean, "somebody please rent a couple of research monkeys from Cal State and get them to throw darts at a map of Cali"
By the way, I'm with Trav on this one - it's about the meet-up.

And little sand.:busted::D. Sorry even after watching the video, there still appears to be far more sand out there than the rest of the high desert that we ride. And before I get slammed, I admit I have only been there once and don't have a clue. But the majority of the terrain I have seen either in person or by video appears to have its fair share. Hopefully, somebody can show us something different.

Video??

Most of the sand is in the south... even big sand dunes... as you head north to the west is Cougar Buttes, all rock and boulder crawls... technical trials style riding... north and east is lake beds to mountains of purple rock covered ridge lines and single track.

It's all there... but it's a bit elusive. I can see why years of REZ parties would not expose whats there. Especially if you you left JV to ride Rattlesnake Canyon.

Not trying to sell anyone on the place... could care less about where the DBA Tday is... just tying to correct the perception. You'll ever really know until you know... and that means going with someone that knows.

Personally I like variety... and I dig finding unique riding gems anywhere... about the only place I don't like to ride is the Cal City area due to their stupid permit system... and lately much of the surrounding area has so much fencing and signage that it disturbs me... still some good riding though.

A word about SAND riding: I used to SUCK at it bad ! It affected where I rode all the time. I hated it anytime I had to cross a wash. So one weekend I went to Gorman and rode up and down the Freeman washes all day long on an old impossible to turn XR600. By the end of the day I was cured. You can do this at ANY age. You just do NOT have to hate sand. Once you learn it you will find sand provides your most restful parts of the ride. 8 hours in the sand changed my life.

DRILL IT AND YOU WILL BE CURED

I hear you and I can ride in it. Just don't like it. Don't mind it for a bit, not just the majority of the trail that I am on or if it goes on for miles. Just not fun for me.

yea i have a bug crawl up my ass and its you..... seriously im not tryiong to slam you but i call it how i see it. look already people are showing you that you do in fact have misconceptions.
I do not know how this all came to wind your chonies up in such a tight bunch but you sure have them. I am generally not an asshole but you are doing such a good job of being one that I guess we will just see it through this way. My wife has eye conditions and dust is her enemy so if I can park in a location that will not eat constant shit and her being more comfortable then that is what I am going to do. I do not think anyone was offended by me parking on the other side of the road except you and you were not even there. :hail: Just like I am not going to camp with a group of Deliverance people with anger management problems as has happened. Hell, I don't even have to camp with anyone if I don't feel like it and sometimes that is the best way to do it. If I like one place more than others then that would be my preference of riding so why the fuck should you get so offended by where I prefer to camp and my opinions? If you would read a post thoroughly then you would see that both places I was discussing are the same distance which really has nothing to do with where I end up anyway. You, not me, has the shitty attitude about this whole thing so what the fuck is your problem? One more thing, I am not flip flopping shit so go ahead and dig up all old posts, to prove what I am not sure. This thread was a planning thread for Thanksgiving and I can see what I am planning. I will be sure to check with you and make sure you approve first. :picard:

Instead of trashing each other why don't you guys just start a poll and vote on it. Nobody needs to justify why they prefer one place over another. Nobody needs to trash anyone else for having a preference. Just vote and be done with it.
I see no reason to vote on anything. I am not trashing anyone here either and I do not need to justify anything to anyone.
