I personally do not like lugging 20 lbs of stuff around with me. The flight vest with full water is bad enough but a bunch of tools that most likely never get used I just don't see it. That is why I ride with Rack and Geek.

 this is gonna sting a bit Dave.

this is my daughter wearing my fully loaded vest...

anyhow there is a thread on here that was started that will give you a good idea of what you should carry.

BTW my tool kit came with my bike... maybe look at a dealer and see... or just piece something together yourself.

Yea I was going to go to sears and get all the sockets and wrenches I need. I guess I just will go over my bike from top to bottom and figure out sizes.

Make sure you get metric!

If you have zero tools I'd start with this (others can add to it as I'll miss some things):
  • Basic socket set that covers 6-22mm
  • Sockets for steering stem and rear axle
  • Hex (Allen) sockets (I prefer the sockets over the wrenches)
  • 4" and 10" socket extenders
  • Wrench set (ratcheting if money isn't a problem)
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Regular pliers
  • Channel Locks
  • Screw driver set
  • Small wire cutters
  • Regular and Needle Nose Vise Grips
  • Hammer
  • Knife
  • Tape measure (to set your sag)
  • Punch set
  • Feeler gauges
  • Digital calipers
  • Foot and Inch pound torque wrenches
  • Measuring cup, the glass ones for the kitchen work great (use it to measure oil etc)
That should allow you to do pretty much anything on your bike.

Finally thats what I was looking for! Thank you! I have plenty of tools but I didn't want to break up sets. So I figured just buy exactly what I need. Great list thanks again.

If you are carrying all this on your bike, you better take the suspension off and have it re-valved for the added weight
