125 New to me 06 YZ125 lowered?

1) You will be removing both outer right covers.
2) It looks like it will slide right out without having to cut it off. If so, try and put a pipe that slides over it or a cresent (adjustable wrench) on it and and tweek it back the other way a little.
3) If you end up with a cut off wheel (and I don't think you will) just be patient to cut slowly.

Good luck, and cool wife and kids, I'm lucky when I get a gift at all. But, I really don't need anything anyway.

Great tips. Thanks bud.

Hi Fellas... While I got the bike up here I'm thinking about doing the piston and ring kit. I've searched my manual for operating compression pressure and couldn't find anything. I read somewhere else that at 125 to 130 the piston should be replaced. What's a normal operating pressure?

Ok. Cool thanks. I'm going to order a kit anyway. I know at some point I'll be replacing it. Also ordering the shift shaft. I need things to keep me busy until the suspension comes back. I've been taking apart just about every moving chassis piece an re-lubing it. Also repacked the silencer.

Measure bore before you order piston.

Ok. It's all apart and measured. Stock bore...[emoji1303]

Here you can see the bend up against this straight edge. It was worse than this. This is after I straightened it a bit.

Tonight I put the new shift shaft and seal in. Also installed the new piston and buttoned up the cylinder and head. I have the fiber clutch plates soaking and I'll load those up tomorrow. Hoping to have this engine closed up tomorrow night. I talked to Jay at GRR today and he said I'll most likely be able to get the suspension Friday night! Might have this puppy completely back together over the weekend.
