sharpening your pegs sounds painful if it hits you in a crash. I had a friend who was kick starting his bike his foot slipped and his peg sliced his leg open about 8 inches long

usually its a good idea to wear something that covers your shins when starting any bike, cuz your foot can slip off the kick starter... i know from personal experience...
