Girls just wanna have fun on Prez weekend, so we did.

My Husband and I went to Ocotillo Wells for Prez weekend. We joined MxDirtDiva and her group. We got there Sat afternoon. I did a short, fun "chick ride" just before dark. We ended up at the Iron Door where Traci had never been and we put a bill on the wall with all of our names on it. We for some reason were treated like rockstars there  Gee, :thinking:I wonder if we would have gotten the same treatment had we been on quads?
It poured Sat night and there was plenty mud and puddles to play in on Sunday. Sunday was a long "group ride" to the Casino with a stop at Pumpkin Patch and Shell Reef. I rode a friend's XR400 that I couldnt touch the ground on. It felt weird to ride it after being on the KLX. I was not riding like myself at all on it. Regardless it was a great day and good ride. Two dumps in the mud by my Husband and Diva:smirk: Im sorry to say but they were funny to watch happen. A crossing many didnt make and many stood around to watch try to make.
Monday was GORGEOUS! I did a small "dude ride" with some guys from camp and then went on a long "chick ride" Monday afternoon. We rode to say hello to a friend who was going to go on the Chick ride but her Husband's knee was hurting and they needed to load up. We stopped a couple of times and did some exploring, goofing off and dancing around like girls do ending up ultimately across the Hwy where we rode "the chute" and played on all the AWESOME hill climbs. The traction was UNREAL We ended the ride at the Iron Door for A beer and then went back to camp with BIG appeitites, a warm welcome and warm food. What a satisfying day it was:wiggle: Another great weekend with fun people. Lots of good laughs around the fire as usual.

Here we are taking a break on some climbs and acting silly.

It feels so good to be back on the dirt! Diva rocked her bike like her knee was never hurt. Thanks MxDirtDiva:hug: I have so much fun riding with you. We dragged Traci up some stuff that bumped her confidence up. It was good for her to get out with other girls and challenge herself without any pressure.

And best of all...No bodies or bikes hurt this trip:clap:

Sorry, I didnt take but 4 lame pics and one silly video. Maybe Diva has some pics but I dont think any from the real fun stuff. We were too busy ripping all the walls and hills over there. It was like dirt bike Disneyland.

Im a little sore and stiff today. I need to get back into shape for riding. Now I have a reason to get back in shape:lol: As if living longer wasnt a good reason. Well...you know how is it:wink:

Good to see you girls rocking the Rush and having fun! Iron Door, Goddess? Ha, ha that is funny....Lets see, three good looking dirt bike chicks in the hole in a wall bar, in the middle of "basically" no where...
I was out with my two boys and two of my girls in Stoddard for Monday very tempted to go to OW on Sunday, Monday but I had to work on the new ride for my youngest. Nice report Sun, we will ride and meet you soon. Funny thing is I have talked to MX on the phone (business) but never met. small world, big life...

Sorry to hear about your wife's family member. After rockin a XR400 I dont blame you for not wanting to rock the XR350. It is sort of like riding a park bench.

Well you may have a point there on the bar scene LOL We were like a fresh breeze blowing in:smirk:

Well Diva prefers the phone over riding:P j/k it is a very small world indeed! I look forward to riding with you Palmer. Street and dirt:thumb:

Thanks everyone for the kind words on the weak report.

Small world indeed. :thumb:

Not sure if you remember our conversation. I DID end up getting our fire lanes and signs removed... what a pita of a process. OCEMA did not have the original SIP's, nor did OCFA, engineer was useless, builder had to search through archives. Called SMWD, got everything I needed next day. There was a generic call out for FL in the general notes, got OCFA to write a resending type letter regarding their recent visit out here. Cul-de-sac radius/requirements were revised after we were built, letter satisfied HOA, ALL signs were pulled. Now, we and 25 other families can park in front of our homes again. The board member who started the mess resigned shortly after. Wondering how much of our HOA money was wasted on property mgmt time, legal, signs and install, ggrr.

Nice report Sun!! :thumb: Sorry, for the late chime in, busy week. My knee got a little angry from the weekend, had 2 cc's of fluid drained yesterday, yikes. No complaints, clocked 140 miles over the weekend. Always enjoy riding with you guys, glad the weather didn't keep you home... see, it never rains in Oco. Cleaned lots of mudd off our bikes, gear, made a dune on our driveway. SUPER job on that new 450 of yours ~ saweet ride! Surprised how low it sits compared to the CRF450. Heightwise, doesn't seem much different than the 250?? Thanks for letting me take for a spin and spending the weekend with us ~ fun times!!

So ya, several camera's, Ipone's, a GoPro which never saw daylight the entire weekend and we have no ride pics?? Nothing wrong with that picture is there, lol. :smirk: Next time! Sorry Sun, don't have too many to add, here's a few :thumb:.....

Poured like crazy Fri night and again Sat. Hadn't seen the washes fill up like that in a looong time. TWS got some good shots of the H20 Oco received. Kept the crowds away. Once it moved out, conditions were awesome.

Took the younger guys to Shell Reef and Gas Domes on Friday while some light rain moved in

TWS and Primal had pulled in while we were out. BBQ'd and camped overnight with us (TWS, we have your hot dogs buns, want me to save?? :D). Had steady rain all night. Primal called James, said a quick hello to our DBA host.:thumb: Rain let up Sat morning, did a group ride to Shell Reef and Pumpkin Patch. The washes were flowing pretty good, fun times making crossings. When we got back to camp, Sun, her hub and Traci had arrived. Rain came in again that night.

Recently picked up a TTR90 for my youngest (who's not much for the dirt). Finally getting him off his CRF50 and all pumped up to ride this weekend, second day blows what we think is the intake valve (hopefully, not the piston too). So, he was done for the weekend. My oldest brought a friend this trip, were a few other guys their age at camp.

Made for some good times :thumb:

Sunday... something different, Crossover Trail to Shell Reef, Pumpkin Patch, Tule Wash (awesome conditions) to Pole Line, to the 86 and took the frontage road to Red Earth for some Blackjack. :thumb:

On our way to the Casino, another stop at Pumpkin Patch

Sun and me. Could see snow on the elevations behind us (towards Borrego)

Our Valets... Sun's hub and mine

On our way back from the Casino, hit a few cluster-messes down Pole Line both sides. Both Sun's hub and me took choice mud naps 2 ft to the left of where the jeep is  .... while the wiser ones (bawk, bawk, bawk :moon::poke::busted: ) found side trails that led into the wash.

Sunday Night, the "Corn" story :moon::eek::lol::lol::cry::lol::lol:....:smirk:

More to come...

Some friends came by and joined us for some campfire time. A little too breezy, but we sent off a "Wish Lantern" they had brought with them. These things were cool! :thumb:

Crossed San Felipe on the Blu Inn side and took a small wash to a place I call D-Land. Took Sun and Traci through the hills and through the walled S-Chute (as I call it). Fun place when you've got it virtually to yourself. Never, say never... 2nd time through, Sun leading, almost came head on with 2 Rhino's in the 2nd turn. :banghead:

After D-Land, came out about 4 miles up Split Mtn. Decided to start heading back with a quick stop at the Door. Traci had never been, thought we'd let her throw a bill on the wall. We also have this impromptu camp tradition, whoever passes by the Door must bring back these ill-lookin' pickled embryo-eggs for this guy who was camping with us. Unfortunately, he got my hub addicted to them too. These pale things loam lifelessly fermenting in this huge glass vat/jar which is filled with this questionable and stenchy murky particle liquid. No idea how long some of these eggs have been floating in there. Some look as though they've gone beyond the aged-to-perfection stage and morf'd into some serious science project with red tentacles sprouting out of them.

Sun decides she wants to try one. :smirk: I was going to warn her about the the 2-hour rule, but figured my hub would explain as he could use some company outside after I boot his sulfur-bottom out of the motor home. The two of them could share the 2 hour rule together. Sun's hub wouldn't appreciate being in confined camping space with her either. So, being the good friend I am, I said nothing.

Sun volunteered to carry the baggie back to camp ~ RIGHT ON!! Better they explode in her backpack than mine. :smirk:

You rode an XR400R! :thumb: I'm sure that ruined you for the KLX, minus the tall seat height!
