[Feb 2, 2013] REZRIDE 2013 (LANDERS, CA 92285)

I have no idea what to think of this thread and comments anymore. As far as I am concern, you all need to ride within your ability, FRQ's, 4X4, Dirtcycles, etc. etc. one should never ride over the envelope of comfort, or "try" to keep up with others. Riding IMHO, with friends is all levels of riding, fast, slow, technical, easy, it just does not matter. We can get hurt at any given moment or at any time. Uneasy feeling before rides is always on my mind as well, what if I get hurt to far away from the truck, or the bike fails? So what, worst case has been with my young kids w/o a license, how are they going to get back to the truck and come and get me? Oh well, that's all I have to say. Better to live and be happy, than to die without trying. If you decide to go on 4 wheels will I not go, no, I'll go and meet you where the trails connect. I don't loose sleep over it. It's just if you don't have a bike, you have to sign out and go to another forum. J/K I love you all, hope this makes sence and you all had a great new year. Sorry for the Rose family, heal quick and get back on the steed.

Totally understood... I said it before and I'l say it again, I really appreciate your "staying back" with me on soem of the rides we've been on together. I would rather ride sweep for 2 reasons... 1) I can't keep up with everyone (anyone for that matter) and 2, I don't like havign to worry abotu anyone behind me... I'm a worry wart, I'd be checking every 100 feet. Your uneasy feelings are exactly what I feel except I begin feeling them when the rides been planned... I never used to think this way, it must come with age. The saying of "you don't know how good you are until you crash"... well, I don't want to find out.

I was wondering why this sudden change of heart. Did something happen over the holidays to make you think so differently about riding? :noidea: You did just recently buy the new bike.

I've had the bike roughly over a year, didn't necessarily "need" it however I was tired of kicking El Diablo left footed in the sand... (ahh, the memories) so I bought the Berg. Probably a mistake however mine to deal with.

We shall see what happens. :thumb:

So whats the plan on this event? Still happening? I am in for the Saturday.

I'm thinking yes however our guide up the canyon (Timo) won't be joining us and I have no idea where to go once we get up there... If I ride the other side of the highway (the common area) I'm down for some easy riding, nothing too crazy... the only thing is, is that it'll be busy out there due to the King Of The Hammers event starting that weekend... Means dry lake is pretty much off limits since they'll be chanrging to get in... I've ridden a lot out there but nothing too far out.. usually short trips. I know the general area from the REZ to the dunes to Soggy DL over to the rock pile (where I'm sure you've started a few races). From there I don't know where to go (miles wise either) to make it a good ride... we can guesstimate and play it by ear. I just know we have to either go back the way way came or go clockwise out to the hills and back to the dunes to avoid Means.

Anyone else that is planning on coming out familiar with the surrounding area... way out beyond (north of) the dunes? :noidea:.....

Pappy & Harriets, Willy Boy(Wilderness Area, outlaws only) Desert Rat wash, the C130(that's probably gone), Galaway to Bess, there's alot of great riding, even if you don't know where you are going.:trhumb:
