1969 Briggs and Stratton Mini Bike Build

I finished sand blasting this morning. I would have video of it, but the hood on my mask was in the way the whole time. so no vid to post, unless you guys are interested in 30 minutes of a red screen :smirk:. After blasting the rims they are just too far gone to do anything with, so I ordered some new ones.

After!

Im going over to a friends house tonight to use his cutting torch. Im getting rid of the footpeg mounts since the ones I ordered are clamp on, now I can put them wherever is comfortable. Oh yeah, I found the kickstand for it last night, so that's going to be cool to have.

Foot pegs removed. The guy who welded this frame back in the day definitely knew what the hell he was doing, those things were hard to get off, even with a cutting torch. Things were made to last back in the good ol' days.

A buddy of mine is an expert welder, he made me this battery box out of aluminum and its perfect.

Here is where its going to sit on the motor, maybe, if nothing gets in the way further down the road.

Painting frame tonight, then I am going to tear the front forks apart and make sure they are working and there is no rust.

Front forks will not come apart. I tried everything. They don't compress like they are suppose to so im assuming the are filled with rust. I will try again tomorrow and hopefully I can get them apart.

Here are the things I finished painting, I painted the battery box blue to but it was on the motor when I took this so its not its not in the pic.

There was a pretty good sized dent in the front fender that I had to hammer out, its still a little noticeable but when its on the bike im sure it cant be seen. fenders, seat brackets, kick stand, and frame. The forks are not painted yet because I cant get them apart. But soon... soon.

Here is all the electrical work. Im going to go get a headlight and a taillight tomorrow and wire them in. I found my old horn I used for my motorcycle test and threw it on there just for shits and giggles but it turned out pretty cool. Got the gas tank mounted and I moved the kill switch up there and added a rocker switch for the lights. IMG_0276.JPGIMG_0278.JPGIMG_0279.JPGIMG_0280.JPGIMG_0281.JPGIMG_0283.JPG

Big ol box of parts came in earlier today, almost as big as my pumpkin :D . Everything but the brake drum was in it, I called them and they are shipping it today and it should be here Friday.

Here it is all mocked up on the stand. The shocks are installed completely is the only thing so far. I need to go buy some spacers for the wheels and a few throttle components and the pegs need to be put on. I bought a shorter seat so I have room for the tail light, and to have some room to reach the switches, I needed a 16", they only make 12" and 19" now ( I think the 19" would have looked funny). The only thing after that will be the brakes and they wont be done until this weekend... but that wont stop me from riding it :thumb:

Its first steps... im so proud!

The spacers aren't in it yet, I just wanted to see how little it was going to be. Its really small, going to be sketchy riding it without brakes haha.

Here it is... MINI BEAST!!!! All done and running strong. Sorry its been a while since I posted something, Ive been working. Anyway here it is the coolest little bike ever. The lights are all working, the motor starts on the first or second pull and the thing is powerful. I have been riding it the past two days, but they have all been at night. Ill get some video of it riding later, probably sunday since I have to work tomorrow. The brake drum for the wheel was not going to work at all, it just wouldn't fit, so after some thinking I put it on the drive drum and it works perfectly. I put pillow top grips on it, im going to get the air box removed and get a pod filter to get a little more air flow. The throttle is very responsive and I have already done a wheelie on it, really scary haha. The exhaust is all heat shielded so my butt doesn't get hot. And I took pictures of it next to my 450 for size comparison. Really fun little bike, glad I did this. I don't have the numbers yet, but ill get a total investment later. Thanks :thumb:
