250F 05 kx250f please help

why such a big argument? im not fixing to trash my bike or anything like that no matter what it is. I was sent here from another forum saying that you guys were nice and cool and could help me but its a fight just to help someone now days.

Pay no attention to those girls bickering. It is all in good fun, besides they suck sauage anyway. We are all good people here :thumb: no one is getting mad at each other bud. Just sit back and take what you can from them and ignore the BS. In the end you just need to buy a 2stroke and be done with it.:poke::stirthepot: :smirk:

Just messing with man.. welcome to the forum. Have some roost.

ok i did new valves, didn't cut the seats. I understand that was a dumb decision. being new to this I am just trying to find a solution to get it actually ok for the time being. I just want to know why oil is coming out of the overflow and why it seems to be getting super hot easily. if the valve seats could cause all this then I made a mistake and will have to do it right. My mistake. Thanks for your help.

The problem with 250f's is that they are 12,000rpm bombs right off the showroom floor. They will hold up if all the maintenance is done properly, but it needs to be done including rebuilds. Your coolant issue may be a waterpump seal but with used gaskets, worn valve guides, an unknown amount of blow by for the cylinder then who knows what the next issue will be.... by no means am I a 4T guru and by no means can I guarantee that a waterpump seal will completly fix your issue but with 30 yrs exp in motors and motorcycles, my ASE B-tech certification and my Honda certification I would bet that a total rebuild will solve all of your problems at once if a complete engine failure doesnt happen 1st.... Like I said before, James has an 05 and he will probably know exactly what should be replaced on an extensive overhaul. Good luck:thumb:

Welcome to the forum :thumb:. My 2cents is that you just have a bad headgasket. But no-one can be for sure until you take it apart. I hope these guys didn't scare you off, that's just how the communicate with each other, sorta like an old married couple. :smirk:

I a bad head gasket causes water to get in the cylinder not the transmisson

I really appoligize for any mis thoughts about the bickering as we are friendly people :prof: I wish I could help more but the best bet is to tear it down with a proper serivice guide and inspect all engine parts along with cleaning and properly resetting anything that may be off. Replace all the engine gasgets, most importantly the water pump gasgets and engine head gasgets. Be sure to work with proper tools in a opened up well light space, it makes the whole expericance better. I hope you find out whats wrong, and best luck with your bike bro :thumb:

bike was not cranking with a kick so had to push and had little compression so I did rings (staggered), valves, and shims and its running now. I cut it off and haven't rode it because of some issues.
PM me your email address and I'll send you some stuff to help you out while working on your bike.
#1 the front oil plug on the front of the head blew off, not sure if it was loose or what so I put it back in and tightened the bolt next to it back down
You're referring to the plastic/rubber, I've never heard of that thing blowing out. Was there oil coming out of it, how much oil did you put in to start with?
#2 there is oil leaking from the crank case overflow
Are you referring to the breather hose that comes out the bottom of the bike with the carb overflow hoses? This is typically a sign that you overfilled the oil. The best method to replacing your oil is by measuring it, otherwise keep a steady eye on the sight glass, never go over the top mark.
#3 the oil is milky
Where's this oil coming from, out of the breather hose or out of the drain plug (when you change the oil)? If it's the breather hose don't worry about it, you're fine. However if your oil's milky when you drain it, that's a sign that you have a coolant leak.
I a bad head gasket causes water to get in the cylinder not the transmisson
The 05 kx250f does not have a separate transmission oil, so by getting water into the cylinder you're also getting it into the transmission.

Well for starters WELCOME to DBA :thumb: It's like a big family here everyone bickers and pokes fun but in the end we all love each other

Ok, the plug that blew out has been known to do this and expelling oil resulting in a seized engine.. There is a longer tab that can be had to prevent it form happening again.. How ever if you haveing an over pressure issue like from a blown head gasket that might be the reason it blew out along with the milky oil..

Next if you did not cut the seats before installing new valves you're going to decrease the lives of those valves by at least 50% more like 75% especially if it's TI valves..

As far as milky oil there is several reasons for this.. 1. it may have sat for a long time and condensation built up.. Change the oil a few times if it's still milky well you have a coolant leak.. you can also check this during your first ride after oil change.. you will loose coolant and it will also smell like oil.. you can check for bubbling while the bike is running.. you will see churning but you can tell if it's bubbling..

Those who said to do a total rebuild.. I would agree with them.. You save alot more in the long run if you just spend the $$$ now........
