Air Filter Socks

Not being familiar with Air Filter Socks...do they restrict air flow into the airbox/carb? The reason I ask is when I went to clean mine this last time I was checking out the fabric and noticed it was a tighter knit material than a foam filter...

Yes it is...I couldn't remember the thread title...Thanks.

No air restriction is a good thing. :thumb: Now, not having had a bike for a while (until a couple years ago) are most filters/skins similar in shape/size? Mine which is located on the right side behind the side panel is pretty flat.....what I need to know is will I have to purchase "bike brand specific" or do they have various styles/shapes/sizes to choose from?

Pantyhose!!!! Works in dusty conditions and you have enough hanging out of the box that you can grab it and pull and now you have clean filter underneath. Well that is what we did in Baja anyways...For the 1000 we went from 8 filter changes to 4 since we added the pantyhose...:smirk: They come in a variety out colors..

But how do they work n the bike..................:P Actually I've heard of several applications for pantyhose this being a good one! :thumb:

What color worked the best

CDA - Id like to know exactly how to wrap the pantyhose around the filter. Do you just cut the ends on the the thigh portion or the leg portion for snug fit? Then like a tube slide over the filter so it covers both sides? And poke a hole for the screw to go through? I would love some details please.

Hey! I said I want some details CDA! Please? Get off :prof:the pussy thread and lets get back to bikes! Im interested in how to do this! I guess I could google it.

Sorry Sun, but every time I see the word "pussy" come up, I start

So to answer your question, you cut them in the area that would give you a snug fit around the filter. You do not want them to fall off or be too tight so it squeezes to much. This is installed after the filter has been put in the bike and you leave enough so you can route it outside the air box so you can reach down and pull and it comes right out leaving you with a fresh clean filter.

Now I only used this when riding the Baja 1000 when we normally would be changing about 6+ filters during the race since it is pretty dusty down there. This process cuts that in half which saves filter changing times...:thumb:

Now, back to the other threads...
