HEY! I love my 6.0! Awesome truck, tons of power and it hauls the mail... You can't be a soccoer mom or a wanna be truck owner. That motor needs to work and not sit in traffic. I run the doors off mine, always running always loaded and I change the oil every 10K...

My Dad bought an Isuzu diesel P'up back in 1986. He ran the doors off it until about 1997 when he gave it to my uncle. My Uncle was still driving it up until he died last year..... I think my cousin is driving it now. Its only ever needed fuel, tires and oil.
We run Izuzu Diesels in all the diesel equipment underground here where i work. Its good stuff.

BTW aren't Toyota's made assembled in the US like all the other "domestic" auto makers?

Yeah if i ever buy new im going with ford because the company is still private and the government doesnt own it
This guy...:picard:
While Ford didn't take a bailout, the Obama Admin (aka government) did loan them $5.9 billion to pursue electric cars and other tree hugger crap. That $5.9 billion is merely a drop in the bucket compared to the auto bailouts though.

This explains it pretty well.

Dang...not as bad as Government Motors though. :smirk:

I've always drove square body Chevies, but I would take a Ford anyday. Sure, new domestic trucks aren't all made here, most are...but I buy old...so GFY. :P

Did you have to do some indescribable acts to get these "free" cars or what?

Sorry, no good stories there...

A large part of the reason for the zero cost acquisition was the state of the vehicle. None were in exactly drivable condition without some work.

I will have to say I've owned all 3 brands and of all 3 I've owned I like the Chevy the best (current truck..03 2500 Z71 crewcab). I've owend 4 full sized Fords from a F150 Supercab, F250 Crewcab (w/460) to 2 duallys 1 w/460 and 1 w/powerstroke. Both purchased used, the Powerstroke I loved however it had a problem with the engine so I returned it and moved on. Bought a NEW Dodge 2500 w/hemi which had no balls for towing my trailer... hauled ass but that's about it and the seats were uncomfortable so I traded it in on the Chevy also used. I had itthe longest which is an accomplishment for me since I tend to trade often... 6 years... usually they last no more than 3. :thumb:

Do you tow with it? The 6 Liter has no balls when it is put up against the 7.3 in stock trim. Proof is try and find a 7.3 for sale? bet its going to be hard. Then look for 6 liters for sale there is probably handfulls of them. The early 6.0 liters had cooling issues when towing. I guess they fixed it but it still didn't make the power the 7.3 in stock form. I know there is plenty of guys making hop up parts for the 6.0 motor.

The nice thing about the 7.3 is it got the same gas mileage towing or not.

The 6.0 had...cooling and turbo issues to say the least (all under the hood, no tranny issues)... While working in the used truck biz I heard a lot of BAAAAD stories about the 6.0 from 2003-1/2 - 2007 (possibly later but most were before 05). Trucks breaking down out of state and the driver leaving it there in discust, blowing shizzle out of the hood while towing their mule carriers, blowing the turbos out up the grapevine (interstate 5) while dragging their house... I never once heard a complaint about the 7.3 except that you couldn't "chip it right". That's because those were meant to work and work slow and hard not pedal to the metal. I still hear some going up the street with a bad turbo... spittin and sputterin...

Just my 2 cents worth... :prof:

we have 2 6.0's in our dump trucks at work. They literally eat their own turbos and blow head-gaskets all the time
There ya have it... Poor running trucks from the start PLUS owners took them and tried modding them with chips, programmers, straight pipes, etc.... they weren't made for that.

I've seen a few local dealers with a couple 7.3's on their lots... Can't imagine the miealge on them. I know they'll run for ever IF you know how they were treated beforehand. Like mine, It ran pretty good when I first got it then started clanging under the hood (more than a regular diesel if you can imagine that) when my mechanic said take it back... too many issues!

I have a friend who took his Ford into the dealer for some work and when he got it back it had no power. They went back and were told that the turbo had to be turned down because it was not meeting pollution requirements. :noidea: What a fricken joke that is.

I beg to differ. the 6.0 is more powerful in stock trim than a 7.3, the 7.3 has more modifications and is easier to modify.

7.3
Power output
185-225 hp
Torque output
350-375 lb-ft

6.0
