Why is Third Gear the best gear for most situations

I usually found myself in 3rd at the track, along with a little 2nd and 4th mixed in, depends on the track though. I've had a Supercross rider tell me that you can pretty much ride a supercross track in only 3rd (on a 450F).
Ever go off 5th gear doubles? I found myself in fifth off one of the table tops.

You asked why people give you a hard time, this is it right here. Nobody can say anything without you recommending a 500. Nobody wants your fucking 500, and I'm sick of hearing about it. I know they existed and exist and that they had a shit load of power, but I don't care. Not the bike for me, I (as most people are) can ride a 250f or 450 as fast if not faster than we could a 500.

If you're going to talk to me, you'll have to do so without mentioning anything about a CR/KX500, otherwise I simply won't reply.
