What kind of bike should I get as a beginner.

When looking for a beginner motorcycle its good to know;
1 - riders age, weight, and height
2 - experience level
3 - riders intended use
4 - is rider athletic/quick reflexed (sometimes already known by #1)
5 - budget

Without these pieces of info it makes it difficult to to accurately say what would be the right choice.

For 2500 you can find an awesome used Name brand dual sport. You just have to be patient and watch the ads.
I paid 3500 for this low mileage(3100 miles) 2012 dr650 this summer.

Dang Mike, I'm so out of the loop! Great find!
And to the OP - talk to, and listen to as many of us older guys that have been where you are at - find out what really is your need need. We can point you in the right direction. Heck, when I was 16 years old, I bought an XL350. Crap on the street and crap off road. Would I do it again, heck yeah! But, talk about a bike that was ill- equipped for either!! Good Luck :thumb:

I wish you would come over and pick up the xl350 I have here. Bring a gas tank.
