What did you do to your bike today?

Sometimes when you see that parttern on the piston it is due to the transmission starting to bleed some oil into the crankcase, but only if it is a lubricant with a pretty high ratio of detergents. ATF and most multiweights have that righer ratio. One that starts running rich will do it to, especially if the owner makes a swtich to a different oil thinking he is going to make his bike run better. Something with more solvent in it, will clean off some established carbon.

That's a new one but I see where it's a possibility with things like ATF. :thumb:
You mean jetted rich not oil rich, correct? I thought when you saw a pattern like the one shown was do to overly rich conditions and lugging the motor and the raw fuel just washing the dome?

Your last sentence is in line with what I am thinking.

Higher detergent motoroils WILL clean off a piston really well too. Pull down some worn automotive engines that run run some of the better grades and see what I mean. You can find a really clean piston right next to one that is pretty carboned up in lots of cases. (The dirty one is the one that was "working")

Jetted: Probably not as you say "jetted rich" but having a "genuine, original, straight from the factory" float setting is probably more likely.

Something is wrong here?

Great time to load up another roller, half a dozen riders and head for a place to "downhill". You have a round robin match race series. We tried it with more than two and it just didn't hold interest as long.
