Took the jug off and the piston is sweet. Replacing ALL seals/gaskets on the motor and buttoning it back up. This thing is a cream puff.
Sometimes when you see that parttern on the piston it is due to the transmission starting to bleed some oil into the crankcase, but only if it is a lubricant with a pretty high ratio of detergents. ATF and most multiweights have that righer ratio. One that starts running rich will do it to, especially if the owner makes a swtich to a different oil thinking he is going to make his bike run better. Something with more solvent in it, will clean off some established carbon.
That's a new one but I see where it's a possibility with things like ATF.
You mean jetted rich not oil rich, correct? I thought when you saw a pattern like the one shown was do to overly rich conditions and lugging the motor and the raw fuel just washing the dome?
