Shangralah Saturday

So with Rolls back riding, and my work assistant out for a while, I took Saturday off and we did a good old time Brother trip to our favorite spot. With temps forecast to be in the 80's, we hit it early and made this our breakfast stop.

It worked out great since Edison was closing the freeway in 15 minute intervals, we cruised down the frontage road, and skipped the nightmare.

The empty 15 Freeway.

The worn out 1200 mile Michellin. This was a excellent tire which I will be using again. :hail:

With kickstands up at 8:00, we hit a favorite hill climb area. If you look close, you can see Rolls not quite to the top.

Looking down. It gets really steep, and loose at the top.

We rode around the hills for a while, then went back out to the flat lands to look for Tonka Town. We never did, so we found some shade for a little break.

Back on the trail, Timo the quick camera man, is always at the ready.

We continued through the flatlands back to the other side of the valley, and climbed back to the top for a view. Rolls making his way up to join me.

We took the trail on the ridge, and when it turned and dropped into a canyon, we debated whether to take it, and risk having to come back up a near impossible climb. After getting negative reviews, I went anyway, and came to this little spot of shade.

We came back and discussed if we came to a unpassable object, we were going to have a long day back tracking what we had already ridden. Safety was the main topic at this meeting. :thumb:

Back on the bikes, and another mile or so down, so far, so good.

Before I continue with this RR, I need to go back a couple years, to a ride that we came up a wash that someone had put a ramp to climb a waterfall. Since that day I wanted to make it back there, well, little did I know that I had, until I rolled up on this.

Some tweaker took that aluminum I beam, and really made Rolls butt pucker. There was a diagonal smooth jump down path, but with such little room for error, I'll bring CDA back, and film him doing it.

This is what it looked like 2 years ago.

With minimal effort, we lowered the bikes down, and continued to the entrance of the wash, where I had remembered a trail that I had wanted to take. It ended up to be the trail pick of the decade.
Shangralah 42812 154.JPG

It ended up being a ridge/spine single track, that puckered my arse multiple times.

And then along came Rolls.:smirk:

Sorry to say that is all of the picture from that day. It was getting late, and we booked it back to the truck as quick as possible. This route is definitely going into A rotation, and I'm looking forward to a return trip to do another lap.

That all looks grand, You will have to let me in on the next return to the trails-o-plenty as I would love to hook up on some of that terra. :thumb:
Good to se bro-man on two wheels again. Nice RR...

:thumb: Great RR and awesome to see you and Bro riding again. Sounds like I have an open invitation for a ride out this way. I better start stretching...

Was this his first time back on the bike since the mishap? If so, it is nice that you took him on such a nice mellow back in the saddle ride. I imagine it got rather warm in the early afternoon.

We took a easy Stoddard trip 2 weeks ago, besides, on my first trip back from the broken arm, he punished me pretty good. Pay back is a bitch, aint it.:smirk:

Awesome photos, I gotta get out to that area. Perhaps a DBA meet out there - isn't there a big open area for rv's just off the road?
And good to see Rolls back in the saddle.

There's a few spots for large rigs, and it is something we've got to get done.

:thumb: ... As with the others, glad to see Rolls up and riding again. How did he do body wise? a little of this :cripple: or more like this .... :hyper: ..... :noidea:
