Rm85 front end on a cr80

Let me add to that.
Fork rebuild: $100
Front wheel assembly $150
Brake shoes, cable and lever $50
The 84 cr 80 had excellent brakes. Compatible with the disks of that time.

What if I got a bearing with these measurements:
Upper bearing- 41 O.D. , 25 I.D.
Lower bearing- 41 O.D. , 26 I.D.

More than likely the stem won't fit in the neck. Also the bearings may bind or tear themselves apart. Due to the larger parts on the smaller frame.

Hmmm... trying to figure out what to do now. I really don't have the budget to spend more than $300 on the front end. Handlebars, front wheel, brakes, forks (or rebuild stock forks). Anyone have any other ideas or should I stick with stock?

You might want to try and find another parts/donor bike and make 1 from 2, but that vintage are few and far between.
But some still exist;

It might also just be best (read "cost effective") to get a newer model.

Those bikes were awesome. Brings me back to my youth.
