If you've never welded aluminum I wouldn't try it. At least not on your bike first.
And the best answer is TIG, those spool guns aren't worth a shit IMO.

The aluminum wire feed we have at work is awesome, it’s easy as pie. Of course that’s after finding the right set up for heat and speed.
 
It only makes sense that it would fall down through the screen at the bottom and then get sucked up from the lowest point. If it sucked upwards through the screen, when there’s no vacuum the particles would fall off and get re distributed into the oil supply, and be impossible to actually remove and clean.
