here's the story pal:
I bought a complete bottom end off ebay, saw some damage to where the cylinder sits and didn't think much of it stupidly until i put it all together and the gasket was leaking cause of the huge gap.
The cylinder i used was brand new so that was fine.
So its in the shop at the mo and we're trying to find a way to get it done without having to take every single bearing out of each case etc
all i wana do is ride !!! garrr

Yes, and that is if it even worked for a season.
To wash a case with all the bearings in is not very easy and unless it is magnetic material next to very impossible. However, with patience and many washes, blow outs, rinse and repeat, you can find yourself satisfied with the results enough to put it back together and ride.
Probably not...rough the area, degrease it and apply a thin layer. Let dry and surface to correct level. Could use a fine tooth file to face it off and level, do it yourself at home.
I think it would work fine since it will be under compression and held by the gasket and cyl. I would do it if it was mine, save the money and see if it holds.
4 stoke it would work because of the back pressure is less. 2 stroke is compression in both directions of the piston. But yah, he could give it a shot and see.
