125 Kx 125 Rebuild thread

So when i did my top end last year i noticed that the rod had way to much play in it. So after some number crunching and a couple of conversations in chat (plus the fact that i blew out my shock and still need to do the fork seals) i have to decided to redo the bottom+top end of my bike and do a little touch-up/Maintenance on some of the other parts.

Here are my plans so far:
Rebuild crank/New rod
Crank bearings and seal
New Piston and rings
All new gaskets
Rebuild shock (Again)
New Fork Seals
Repaint the frame
New seat cover
And then all the regular wear parts, grips, tire, etc

So far i have have it tore-down to the head. (Not to shabby for 1 1/2 hours) Now i took some pics of the piston for you guys to tell me what is up with my jetting. This means i am running too rich right?

I would have started with thoroughly washing the entire bike and then pull the motor and wash the motor again. Thats just me though and I dont like dirt inside my motor.... :noidea:

I washed it right after i took that first pic, i hate working on a dirty bike. Also even if there was a chance that i get dirt in the motor its all getting taken apart and washed in a parts washer anyways

Next time ill wash it .. Im sure that was my issue...... I would hate to get dirt on something is going to come off and get cleaned Anyways... But carry on

shoulda cleaned your engine before you started disassembly, but whatever... piston look black but thats not a big deal, i think i still see cross hatching in the bore, but you should still full inspect the cylinder for any scars or scratching, get it mic'd and see if it is outside of service limits, if it is, or it's close send it off for replating, other than that, im looking forward to seeing when your bike is done :thumb:

Cough Cough Found out the rod is fine Cough. So i guess i won't be doing a bottom end. But here is some pics for jer
