Knee Guards

ok so here we go again... after my crash and teh realization of how much could have been avoided if i had some knee guards i am n ow looking to get some for when i am all healed up.

so DBA once again i would like to hear your opinions and expertise on what brand and model knee guards you like the best.

last time i tried this it was fail but if you could give me some ideas for what to get in 3 category's that would be awesome..

1. you are poor
2. you are middle class
3. you are rich.

so what would be the best knee guards for each category?

I used to have the EVS SC03 Knee/Shin Guards. About $80, they did not do a very good job for me (I crash alot).

I changed to the Thor Force Knee Guard about a 1 1/2 ago. These have lots of protection and are a bit bulky but I like them. I got mine on sale for $80.

My oldest son wears the EVS 2009 Strata Knee/Shin Guard. $80.

We both wear knee sleeves underneath the guards to protect our legs. It is a must have item!

I use the cheap MSR $15 knee guard that I got at the local shop. They are the same ones that I used for BMX skate park riding.
I have abused them for about a year now and have no problems. There was a minor issue with chaffing on the knees from the inside of the knee guard when wet or sweaty. I fixed that by sticking a few strips of weather stripping on the inside. Now there is no irritation what so ever.

I would however recommend a better knee guard as there are some out there that will even prevent knee injuries from twisting and stuff.:thumb:

I've got the Thor force knee guard, and as KTMRack said they are bulky but comfortable.
I hould have gone one size bigger, though
The sleeves are a must with these.

I wear a CTI 2 knee brace on my left leg ( had 2 acl surgery's) I was lucky enough to have my insurance pay for one of them, the other cost me $1200 but thats before I was married and had a child, I've been thinking of trying to get one for my right leg but I don't want to tear my acl to just get a brace so I wear a HRP knee pad on it I'm not sure if they even make them anymore but they are great knee pads if you can find them

I don't have any pads either  I probably should get some  but I can never scrape enough money together to pay for the cheapo 10 dollar ones from RM...I love the place and the pads are really well-reviewed, but anything under 100 dollars you pay a 7 dollar flat rate to get, so I'll have to wait til I have enough to buy ones from my local stealership...probably be the same price (after shipping) but a better product.

I wear Fox Titan Pro knee and shin guards. They go inside the boots but over my pants so no sleeves are needed. They just about max out the adjustment in the straps of my boots though. Looks like the 2011 model is a bit different but only $65ish.

My first knee pads were some cheapo $20 ones from Thor, you get what you pay for. :noidea:

After that I was lucky enough to score some Asterisk Cell knee braces, awesome product and company. A year after I first got them, one of the rivets that holds on one of the buckles came off. So I called them up to get some new ones (along with some new straps that hold on the patella cup as they were getting frayed), fully expecting to have to pay for them plus get screwed on shipping. Boy was I ever surprised, they never asked for a proof of purchase or that I have to pay for them, only asked for an address to ship the parts to. :wow:  Couple days later I got the package in the mail and they had sent a complete set of straps and rivets/buttons for both braces, I was very impressed. I'm sure it didn't cost them a lot to do that but it's the thought that counts.

 So what I'm getting at is if/when you can afford them get some knee braces as they'll save you many times over on the track.

You guys just wearing knee pads racing? Do you wear them trail Riding?
I've never trail ridden so for me I've only used them on a track, but I'd defiantly wear them for trails to. The reason why is because most of the time that they have helped me has been in corners, where my foot caught on something and snapped back. Which I'm sure happens in trail riding to. :noidea:
