To be honest .... I dont know a whole lot about the the cavity works. But its supposed to reduce spark knocking.

The dome part (If you don't know), That is what raises the compression ratio. It feels the void that was, before with stock piston.. not filled.

The dome on piston's are on any piston.. They have been putting domes on pistons since pistons were made. The cavity, On other hand is pretty new i think. I didn't know anything about it but my dad said he had read about it reducing spark knock,In high compression engines.
