Help, what to buy?

That is up to the rider not the bike. If you are SERIOUS about racing get the one that is sized for you. You wanna run a marathon so you buy shoes a size too big and grow into them? no. Trading in and out of bikes is the norm, you outgrow in a year, you sell in a year big deal.

I will NEVER give ANYONE bad advice. Just what I know from many years of my own experience, and watching my boys grow into men as they road bikes they couldn't touch the ground without side saddleing the damn thing.
They know how to "control" a throttle and ride hard and good without letting the bike get away. So I guess the only competition was each other, and the old man.
Some of the little SX Pros can't reach the ground on their 450's.

Everyone has an opinion, just like the something else we all have.

I think the yz125 is a good starting point for anyone your size that wants to learn how to race, while racing. I like the yamaha line, but if I were buying new and the class rules would allow it, I would probably buy the ktm 150.
