I see what you are talking about, and that just might be my problem. I will open the case again and see wtf is going on. But I think that washer was like that when I was taking it off, before the gear, thats why I took the photo so I know how it goes back. But I will try putting the gear on first and then washer. Like t he diagram shows.

If that is how you took the bike apart (washer on the inside of the gear), you may have found the culprit of the broken shaft, in addition to the short bolt.

I went swimming today in a 5 feet deep mud bath, whole bike was gone. But good times over all

And couple of useful tips: Some mud holes can be super DEEP and they can ruin your day sooooo be careful, 2nd useful tip if you think you might have a leak anywhere on the engine, dip your dirt bike in a mud bath (hope it starts again), ride it hard and the leak should show thru the dry mud (in my case it was a coolant leak which I had no idea I had )
