I am hoping the clutch plates were soaked in oil for about an hour before installation....

Yes soaked in oil for a few hours. Bike is working great.

It is not flat it is angled. Can you tell from this picture?

That looks like the sucker I left out after it was causing heaps of clutch drag. Looked on the net, heaps were having the same problem so I left it out and the the clutch is sweet as with the Barnett kit.
