250 1988 yz250 build

Yeah I've been putting some on it and I've tried ever method I saw online and nothing has worked yet
Try heat! You're going to replace all the linkage bearings and powder coat the frame anyway so get a torch on it and crack it off once it's welded and hot enough to crack, try and cool the bolt while the rest is hot and work fast to crack it off lol!

Craftsman sells some really good extractor type sockets. The first thing you might learn there speed, is that when you are already in a hole, QUIT digging.
Cos you'll only end up with a bolt that's still attached at the other end leaving the option of trying to cut, beat and drill it out or end up with an all new linkage and frame damage!:picard:
Feeling your pain bro, been there with linkage bolts!:banghead:

Well this bolt was already rounded from the previous owner so I can thank him greatly for that. I just made it worse and ended up just drilling the thing up out of anger as you can see from the photo.

When I screw up that bad I go get a square rod and clamp my ground on it and wire feed weld it on the damn thing. Then at least I can grab it with a mexican speed socket or a pair of canadian tune up pliers.
If only I had a welder or someone I knew did. That's the nest thing I'm gonna invest in

You can actually get a very useable fluxwire welder under 200 dollars and lots of them used for half that. Learn how to use the right wrench and a ball peen hammer and you will very seldom need the welder. My easyouts seldom see the light.

Seeing the bolt was already butchered should tell you something.

I got the screw off! And I took everything else apart also. Now I have a huge pile of parts. About to take the frame to get powder coated and I'll clean and polish everything individually while its apart.

Oh no, when you can buy something like a tool you would use for years, (my miller 600 has been with me for 33 years) it is always best to powder coat the frame of a 30 year old bike instead. you have to have your priorities straight you know. :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

I am getting the frame powder coated!

$150 to get the frame blasted, welds checked, powder coated, and then threaded
That's a great deal. Blasted coated cheapest here is 150+tax and there is no weld inspection or thread chasing. So, my buddy does all the items I need and the price is always right. At least I hope it is. And I don't care about weld checks, and I chase threads and would anyway even if they say they would. But that's my deal. Wouldn't trade it for nothing.

Yeah I found a business that seems to do a good job for a great price. Can't wait to see how it turns out
