JD Jet kit

Here's my experience....
I too have heard great things about the JD jet kit so I bought one about 3 yrs ago.... not so much for cleaning up my jetting but JD made it seem like it was a simple fix-all for ppl that jet on a regular basis. In short it was supposed to be a 2 jet system once you figure out which needle to use. one for warm weather and on for days below 70*..... Not the case on My RM 250. I find myself jetting just as much with the jet kit as I did without it. I could have saved myself 80 beans and used that squish to take Bob Kyles sister out...:smirk:
In JD's defense they do have needles that look like theyare works of art when compared to oem...

i have the JD jet kit in my 2011 530 exc. i followed the directions that came with it to a tee and it was pretty much perfect first try. i might be a tad bit rich but only when im high altitude.

the only downside i noticed was it made a huge difference in gas mileage compared to stock jetting. im sorry im not a lot of help but it was almost a year ago that i did it and i dont remember everything. I know i put some rubber band type gasket thing and it made my throttle way snappier and i no longer get any of that bog if you twist really fast.

only reason why it was way longer then a 20 min job for me is cause i didnt know what i was doing and with my bike i have to remove the pipe to twist the carb enough to get to the top and bottom. AND to remove the pipe i have to disassemble the sub frame half way. i didnt know this when i did mine and i spent a long time figuring this out

Haha any help is appreciated! Gas mileage change huh? That's interesting. Especially when I run desert on the stock tank sometimes. I'm interested in the rubber band type gasket you mentioned. I'll have to look into that.

Well, in all honesty, I've changed a jet maybe once? And it was on my ooold WR250F..So it's not like a change em all the time. Would the JD kit require me to do so? Cause I have noo idea how to do it. We got the kit for free, so i figure looking into it couldn't hurt. And I will admit, those golden needles look badass..even though I've never seen OEM..

Yeah the JD jet kit is really designed for a one and done setting. If you just race to race or ride practice or play ride then this is for you... for somone that wants to get every ounce of power they can and have perfect crispness from their throttle like in serious MX or its equal then they should have a little box of needles, main jets and pilots...

Exactly M^^^^^ I wake up in the morning and check the humidity, the temp and the altitude, then I do a few calculations whilst drinking my coffee and then I say to Monkey-Boy and Monkey-Girl, "Jetting is dialed in, now go out there and race"!:smirk:
