125 Kx 125 Rebuild thread

Well because my bike is a big ol' unadulterated bag of pure awesomeness i have yet again run into a problem. As i was cleaning my swingarm and almost ready to put back on the bike i went to put fresh grease in the bearings. Well i took the seals out and the chain guard to clean underneath and found this BadAss hole.

This hole dosen't give a shit where its at, its like a honey badger. So it decided to eat all the way through to my bearing race. But in all seriousness it looks like the previous owner was a honey badger about chain guards and didn't see the need for one :picard:. So when it wore a hole in it they just decided to throw some washers in-between the seal, silicone the chain guard, and then call it a day!

So luckily for me i get to use some of my meteoric skills and try to weld and mill a patch back in there to make it look 1/2 decent and function. Which should be super fun since its aluminum which is by far the easiest metal to weld and work with. And then i also get to buy a new bearing and seals. YAY!

haha i love all the none sarcasm in there.

Be careful welding that though, your gonna either need to bake it or find a great wash to get the grease outa the metal, and spec that hole well, if you weld it wrong it'll eat bearings.

Good luck broseph:thumb:

Thanks, i always put my bearings in the freezer

As of right now i need seat foam and a complete shock rebuild kit (bladder is busted too) but i'll put the shock post up after i get the parts
I sniped this for 35$ a couple hours ago :D http://www.ebay.com/itm/12082662796...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_500wt_1180. He says the bearings are good and i've bought from this guy before and he knows his stuff so i'm trusting him on it. I went this route to save me all the welding and machining work and its cheaper than even buying new bearings (60$)

Its starting to get there. Got the shock ALMOST done, long long story with that. But swinger, frame guards, and sprockets all went on today too. Hopefully i can make alot more progress tomorrow.
