Any thoughts about the BMW 450 X

Just looking but I am looking at a plated D/S.

Not having seen one in person only in pictures I really like them. Apparently Rajo said they re-designed the swingarm/countershaft combo due to some breakage. Don't know if I like the tank being under the seat but the rest of the bike is kewl and I've read positive comments in the articles about it!

Thinking of getting one are you? :thumb:

they are tall

Yea, if anything like the HUsky...you've got to be ready for that...I'm not the shortest guy but when I straddle mine I can touch my toes (in boots) to the ground on both sides...riding rocks nakes for an exciting challenge. Had a fall once..."Laugh in type" if you remember Arty Johnson on the tricycle...I was going super slow, hit a rock that stopped me, I fell to the lower side, my boot slipped on a rock and hit my shoulder directly on a rock...chest protector didn't help much! :foul:

I like what I have seen so far- if I am thinking about the same model. The dual gas tanks are an interesting concept, the main tank gravity flowing into the small tank holding the fuel pump. Will be much easier installing aftermarket oversize tanks if and when they become available.
Most likely a few first year bugs, like every other bike, but still looks good, if the dual sport model becomes available, should be a winner.

Dual tanks... both under the tank in line with the seat or ???

Mixed bag.
Expensive as hell. no more then the KTM.
See that circle in the rear of the seat, thats the gas inlet.
On the frame you see a big ass charcoal box, that thing begs to be
hammered on right, wrong. The thing comes with a 36 month
unlimited mile warranty. This warranty is upgradable to 7 years
unlimited miles. The thing had to be stock so not to void the warranty.

Gas under the seat makes the 270 lbs feel very light; it is tall too.
Crappy 45 marchozzi , nothing eats seals better.

Doing much more research but I did see a Federal Emissions Sticker
and is a plated bike that so far appears very promising.

I think you misunderstood me. The new Husky 450 which has roots in the BMW 450 has all the refinements.

Just read a week that the Euro Husky factory team is coming with the BMW motor.
Seen some issues with Husky quality control as well. This is the bike that won the
Romonatics 2009. I have the feeling this is a better fit finish and quality over the Husky.

Go look and you will see.
Still researching it.
