Ride Coldly, Ride

First off before I start the report, I need to appologize to all the DBA'ers who I flaked on last weekend, and Rack for stealing his RR title. After getting hit with snow balls by my Son all day, I figured it was very fitting. :smirk:

Since temps were less then ideal, we drug our feet in the morning, and didn't meet up and get on the road until 7:30.

Gas, drinks, and ice stop in town.

Instead of a drive thru breakfast, we did Bobs Big Boy breakfast buffet, and were at the "Spot" at 10:00.

We hit some snow spotted single track right off.

We came across another mid 60's memorial. There sure were a lot of lives lost, in the explorationb of space. :USA:

Pictures are fuzzy, thanks to my $50 camera, but here's to you Major Carl S. Cross. :hail:

From there, it was back to the trail.

Some shots of both ways.

To be continued...

You, you, you...bastardio! I am at home all weekend nursing yet another fricken cold and you get out to ride. Dam it, I love it when a fellow DBA'r gets a good day of ridding in. :ride:

PLEASE,

continue.

Just so you know, that was the XB-70 crash site which happened way back in 1966.

This photo was taken just seconds before the crash. The XB-70 was the big boy in the middle. The F104 to the right clipped the wing of the XB-70 and they both went down. The F104 crash site is a few miles away.

Back on the bikes, we ran a wash for a ways, and here comes Sawyer, and Rolls getting to the exit spot.

Looking forward in the trail.

Harper Dry Lake, somewhere down there.
Copper City Snowball 2011 015.jpg

After riding ridge, and then some wash, we hit a cross over connector, and headed back to the East. Not too far heading East, Sawyer lost his tail light.

Where we came from. Harper in the distance.

The trail ahead with my Bros lone track. :smirk:

We didn't quite get the 250 back together, before Rolls came back looking for us.
Copper City Snowball 2011 021.jpg

The tail-light-less 250, ready to go.
Copper City Snowball 2011 022.jpg

Another long section of single track, we came across this treasure.

The Crew catching up.

Around the corner from the van, was this killer cabin. :smirk:

At the cabin site, were these 2 wells.
Copper City Snowball 2011 028.jpg

Sawyer, kind of tempting fate.
Copper City Snowball 2011 033.jpg

OK, not really.
Copper City Snowball 2011 032.jpg

Looks like we have 6 more weeks of winter. This over grown red groundhog, saw his shadow, and headed back down. :noidea:
Copper City Snowball 2011 031.jpg

We couldn't see the bottom of the deeper one, but it wasn't too deep, as you can actually see the bottom in this photo.

With breakfast wearing off, we headed back to the truck for some lunch.

We headed East, looking for another cabin, that we never found.

We did find this though.

I wish I would have remembered my DBA stickers.
Copper City Snowball 2011 039.jpg

We turned back around and headed for the truck, stopping for a quick view. :smirk:

For a short 5 hour day, we got just short of 70 miles. :ride:
Copper City Snowball 2011 044.jpg

So even with the frigid morning temps, and really, a short time in the saddle, it was a excellent trip. I can hardly wait for the next time, I just hope it's a little warmer. :ride:

No apologies needed here Timo! You should have come up to Spangler as it is the SPOT!! No wind and temps were perfect up there

This spot was closer, and less crowded. :ride:

I'm nursing a cold too, but I just couldn't miss another weekend, especially when both bikes were actually ready this time. :bonk:

It looks like yet another great day of dirt bike riding in the dez. Not too often you ride with patches of snow out there. :thumb:

Cold, but great. :ride:

hope you guys werent playing in the outhouse hole ? :P

I never went near it. :smirk:

No need to apologize. I get to ride via your and Rack's report. Just save me a ride as soon as I am better. Would still really like to ride out there with you. Hopefully within 4-6 weeks BEFORE it gets hot.:prof:

I havent been to that cross or cabin. Someday I'll have to get out that way.

Cleonard...that pic right before they hit, wow interesting.

Thanks for another great report that makes me want to ride timoy:thumb:

Minus the Bud, that's just headache beer:P

Maybe you should get a quad. If you can push a Costco cart, you could surely ride a quad. :noidea:

It seems like every time I ride there, I find another memorial. All I can say is, Wow. :USA:

Great report Tim. This was my off week as I had two week ends in a row just before, and one pavement grind to the beach and back. This Cold thing sucks. I think this is my second or third this season. :foul:
