how the heck can you guys stand MX boots?!

i hate these things i cant shift, brake, and my feet keep slidin right off the pegs, i can barely swing my leg over the bike, i had to stand on a cinder block to start my bike. for god sakes these are supposed to protect your feet there gonna cuase me to wreck before they help anything.:rant::rant::rant::rant::rant: I HATE THESE STUPID THINGS!

wait till you are in your 30's and you roll your ankle... you wont give 2 shits about any of that.

you get use to it tho. i started riding in hiking shoes and the first time i rode with boots i couldnt even get my foot under the shifter... 3 rides later and i would feel naked without my boots.

you just might be like me then... have to learn the hard way. I wouldnt ride my bike without boots now. Shit i wont even attempt to kick over TWS 83 xr 350 without a boot on :smirk:

save yourself some down time and wear those boots on any serious ride.

 I used to hate them as well, but the alternative is worse :cripple:. Are these new boots that haven't been broken in yet or not? Have you tried a different brand or model? I've grown to like my Tech 7's, however I'm thinking about getting Tech 10's.

When was the last time you sharpened your foot pegs?

your boots will get better as they wear in.

as for sharpening jsut take a file to each of the teeth

get a comfortable boot like Tech 8s with a bootie, Sidi Crossfires, etc. Then you will only worry about the shifting n such. Also try raising your shifter one notch if there is room, lower the brake pedal a little too. You will get used to them, it just takes a couple of rides.

Also with your foot pegs if they are in poor shape. Like mine are (original equipment 1992) they are probably pretty small. I would highly recommend either trying to sharpen the teeth on the pegs. Or................. Buy an aftermarket set that are over sized. And over sized set of pegs make a huge difference. That and they are cheaper than a new pair of boots.

That being said. Give your boots some time to get broke in. I know it sucks and they feel wrong. But once they are broke in you'll never ride with out them. And when you get to be my age or older your shins and ankles will thank you.

When I got my new SG10's, I put them on and wore them when I cut my grass with a push mower. After I was done, they didn't feel like Frankenstein boots anymore. Start wearing them around other than when you ride.

Get the wide pegs! They help a lot! As for not being able to feel the shifter and brake with the heavy plastic boots, it just takes some seat time until it gets to the point where its only slightly annoying.

Wear them all the time, even on casual rides. If I would have followed that advice years ago, my shins and ankles would not look like Neil Peart played a drum solo on them with ball peen hammers! :cripple:

I don't even like to start my bike up without them on. I got lucky and acquired a used set of Tech 10's on a trade for a bow. They were already broke in. Still, if I have hiking shoes on or even tennis shoes when I try to start my bike. The bottom of my foot gets black and blue. I forgot them once and road all day in my hiking boots and the next day I couldn't hardly walk the bottom of my feet where so sore from all the jumps. You will love them once you get used to them.
