Do you pack Heat?

So after we ran into a Drug operation while deer hunting we got a little spooked. I have always packed my .44 in the truck or boat but rarely pack anything when I ride. After the drug operation we ran into I'm now looking at a Beretta 9mm to pack while I'm riding. I have shot pistol comp for years so that is nothing new but packing is going to be a little different. My cousin teaches firearm training and few other classes with the pistols I figure I would take for the knowledge and then pick up my Concealed weapons permit. Never know who your going to run into in the boonies. Anyone else packin? If so what and how to you pack it riding? I'm thinking under arm. I packed my 44 this weekend that way and it was pretty comfortable just not sure if i can do it when I get my chest protector.

i never have on any of the rides i go on but on some of my rural backpacking hikes i have because i live close to mexico and its not uncommon for illegals that are crossing over to go into those rural areas and rob people of all their gear. i carry a 9mm Glock 17L

Yeah I have talked to a few guys that hunt and ride the desert in AZ and they pack some serious heat down there. Its kinda cool to read some of their stories and such but alot of the stuff is scary! They were showing pictures of some of the stuff they find and running into dead bodies and such. I guess toward the border they said your a dead man if you don't know what your doing down there. They were saying some places you just don't go because of the illegals and the drugs.

How does the glock do in the dust? I'm trying to find out how the Beretta 92 does. I'm guessing it should do well since the military has used them for years.

never had to fire it in a real situation but (if i can find it ill edit this) i read an article about a glock owner who put his through hell.. soaked it in a bucket of sand, water, mud and various other things and it still fired everytime. Glocks are pretty damm solid

Bryce - Since I ride MX there isn't a need to carry one while riding, but I do have a G27 for "sticky" situations. You might want to check this out http://www.usacarry.com/idaho_concealed_carry_permit_information.html

Trav - I thought CA was a no carry state?...:thumb:... you didn't see that :smirk:

And that's why I use Glocks, the most dependable gun there is IMO. There's no manual safety to worry about either, you pull her out of the holster and she'll fire. :thumb:

 I haven't cleaned mine in awhile, :prof: Glocks are for lazy people to. :smirk:

I wish I was old enough to carry. I will always carry when I get my CCW in quite awhile. I don't think my plethora of knives will fend off a couple of drug runners. There is a similar thread like this on TT. And you can guess how that turned out.

you can carry jsut not concealed and there is rules and what not about having to keep ammo in speerate compartments while in a vehicle but ive gona out to the hills to shoot and ran into sherrifs and never had a issue with my registered guns. Never been messed with by a ranger when i had it in my backpack in rual areas tho so i dont know about that but you know what i dont really care... im more concerned about my safety then any law anyway.
