250F The 07 250.

So Chris Gained a little bit of weight,And I was planing some work on this bike any way. It was sprung for 130#s for him about 2 years ago(when he weighed 130#s) front and rear but he's put on 30#s since then, So we decided to put back the OEM rear spring and check out the valves. The bike was rebuilt 27hrs ago with a 270 kit and I've never opened it up since.

On the way to take the shock out.

 Heck yeah, dang that's a clean ride.

Where do you have the hour meter mounted?

 $150 that's just crazy, hey Cali :finger:.

 So is a new rear tire on order? :smirk:

Nice TWS, Can come be my mechanic as well...:smirk: Looks like some good Dez gearing on that back sprocket.

Trav -->$50 per scooter. Try reging 6 scooters at $50 a piece..:shocked:

if you want to live and ride in the greatest land in the USA you have to have em. California has the best land but the worst government.

James the hour meter is on the frame on the right side in front of the radiator.I'll post a pic later. The desert tank made it hard to find a spot. Ahh yes a rear tire is one of those small things left to do.It's still got a ride or two left on it thoug, haha. Could really use a front too. I still want to put on a steel braided front break line and some front pads on. I'll swap out the fork springs on the next fork seal job.

CDA I Know. And he's showing less and less intrest to hang out in the garage. It was like pulling teeth to get ahold of him to sit his fat ass (joking here lol) on the bike to set the sag.haha, Teenagers, what are ya gonna do? I enjoy it any ways and that 250 is my favorite bike. That rear sprocket I think is a 47 only down 1 or 2 teeth from stock. The secret is up front. 14 tooth CS. When we put the 270 in we geared it up knowing it could pull it. She'll keep up !

Yep trav ! 50.00 bucks a piece. I put on 4 yesterday counting the wifes couch.hahahahah

Ahh did you tap & drill or use a stick on for the hour meter? I had tried the stick on but lost it on the track, 3 weeks later I found it half buried in the dirt, so I went and taped & drilled the frame top left and bolted it on. Then a week later I found a little bracket that goes on the upper fuel tank bolt and allows you to bolt the metter to it. :foul: Oh well next time. :noidea:

What's the reason for the new brake line? Fork springs? Oh right you did call him a "fat ass", must be getting to heavy for the suspension. :smirk: Since you actually enjoy working on the bike, better not let the kid hear that or he'll come out and start working in it himself just to piss you off.

So what is the gearing, 14 - 47 with a +3 270cc, doesn't that bog like crazy? I'm running a +4 276cc with 13 - 47 gearing and I think that's cutting it close.

The hour meter is on with just two sided tape but two layers of it so the meter isn't real close to the frame and it helps crab more frame surface and less vibration. Like a cushion if that makes any sense?
The front brake is mushy and pulls in along ways. I've all ready had the MC rebuilt. All be it,it could use new pads but I know the Line is expanding. And yeah. The forks have lighter springs in them.

The only thing that bogs is the FCR carb. Shoulda done the ap mod since the shock was out but I want to do it the right way. Next time.

The gearing is not for a track, it might not be a good set up as you guys don't want to shift much and have power out of a corner in the bottom of third gear. The power is still there but just in a lower gear but Streached the top end out. The bike used to top out around 50mph. As to where it might be 70 now. I would say at this point it's about a even sacrafice..... Might go up on the rear 1 tooth next sprocket and chain swap. I have a 48 or 49 sitting around somwhere. It's hard to run with the 450's in open ground. That thing used to sound like it was gonna pop. The gearing all so makes it a bit better or not so punchy in the tight stuff. It does seem easier to flame out though if not kept in the revs. I would like to try it out with the 13- 49 on it though.

The bike is ported with 13.0 compression it might only be 12.5. I can't remember unless I go check my notes. It has Hot cams stage 2 Int and Exh. I'm not sure if this was a plus or not compaired To the OEM cams but I'm sure it helped the top end a bit.

The boy is welcome to work on his bike anytime he wants or hang out. Wish he would. Life is changing for the both of us. I don't have as much raine anymore and he is starting to check out adult hood.Just Hope I don't lose my best riding friend. They are hard to come by.

I hear you there. Mine has been gone for a riding season and I felt it. One more season to go and he will be back... In the mean time, I guess I will chase you old guys around...:smirk:

Damn, you guys are depressing. My oldest is 14 and loves to ride. I hope my 12 yr old comes back around soon as he used to love to ride.

:focus:

Nice bike TWS :thumb:

So at the first ride of the season last weekend the hot start ended up stuck closed wich is a good thing if it's gonna get stuck.. Finally got around to it today.Man was it stuck. It worked fine last time I washed the bike when this thread was started. Man it was stuck. I ended up yanking the cable lose from the plunger and soaked it for quite some time and trying to get it out. Ended up breaking one of the plunger ears but finally got it out with a pair of needle nose. I have a PC cap but it still got stuck but of course it hasn't been opened up since it was put on 2 yrs ago. So it cost me a new plunger and some time. It really sucked for just being lazy and never greaseing it.I should just put a choke switch in the hole. The bike very rarely needs it.
Grease your hot starts once in awhile before they stick.
