Not sure what you mean by this.... I don't think I have any fans or a 4T...


These are the rechargables I am using for my prototype. The final ones will also be rechargable NiMh, but of a better quality. I have decided on Eneloop XX Batteries for the actual units. They are top dog as far as rechargable batteries go.
The reg/rect I just got installed will charge these battery cells great!
Should work out!

I am running the stock H4 bulb in the baja designs headlamp for now just to keep it seemingly legal for light road use.
With the 55 watt halogen my batteries show an idle voltage of 11.9v. Reved up I get about 12.6v which is too low for my liking. This regulator rectifier should give me 14.2v limited.
The stock stator is only about 40 watts so I had to step down to a 35 watt H4 Halogen. The idle voltage is 13.2v and reved I get the regulated 14.2v. :thumb:
The LED headlamps I'm after are 28 watts, so I should be good to go with this current setup.

Dan, is there a reason you didn't go with this type of rear light setup? There is no issue with the wires on this as I have been running this on my WR ever since I dual sported it.

BIGDAN the first thing that goes wrong is the weight on the stock fender... can sometimes fold down on a jump and tear the shit out of everything when the tire catches your screws or wires.
I have tried a half dozen of those tail pieces... this is the best one so far...

3 Rides and she got eaten by the fender bouncing and catching the license plate... oh well, it was only $4...Looks like I'll be getting the polisport model.

Also, I've got about 37 hours on the WR. Looking to pull the top end and check the rings and whatnot at 50 hours. I expect 200 hours or more on this piston.

It has been an incredibly slow riding year for me... Hoping to pick up the pace.

Most people are cringing right now I'm not since it's more of an industrial type engine than a race engine. Built for reliability and durability rather than corner to corner speed. I bet your piston weighs 3 times that of my 250. Just a lovely machine to own and ride. Yamaha would be right to bring back that model just the way it is with just slight suspension upgrades and maybe an optional headlight kit for my buddy Dan.

Why would yamaha want to do that?....every body who has a yzf would sell that pile of shit and buy the wr500...then yamaha would have to dump they're 4skin lineup.....
.then because every body riding blue was riding a 2t (which we all know causes pollution that is responsible for the deaths of thousands of bunny rabbits and birth defects like ass hole baby's) the ozone would collapse and everybody on the planet would die.....Jeeeze bring back the wr 500 like it is, are you Nuckin Futz?

Well, let's do a bit of math. I replaced my piston 13 months ago and have 95 hours on it. That is the first time I have replaced the piston in my WR450. That would be my 2007 WR450. Granted, I was off the bike for 12 months after my dislocated shoulder and rotator cuff surgery. I wish I would have had an hour meter on the bike like I have now. It would have been interesting to get the actual hours of that piston.

I guess with the math we could take an average of say 90 hours per year. 07 to 12 is 5 years, let's see, 5 x 90, carry the...shit, where is my 15yo son when I need him:smirk: Ok, rough estimate is 450 hours. And I would say that might be on the low side. I did 3 rides that were 220 miles one way. 29Palms to Lake Havasu and then back. 440 mile weekends.

When you think about it it really isn't a lot of time. However, if it were let's say a Honda CR 125 or a Kawasaki 250f then that is an insane amount of time.....

The current crop of 4T's have these little slipper pistons. They don't have the life of the pistons of old. I put about 40k miles on my xr600 all on the same piston. Probably 1000 hours or more. I did have to re ring it, but it still measured within limits and it ran for several more years.

I hope that my Beta's piston makes it to 200 hours. That is a lot for a slipper type piston design. Run a piston too long and they have a way of breaking a chunk off and doing catastrophic damage.
