Sometimes Its All About The Bike.

It just shows how well and easily the bike can handle in the woods. Nothing to do with power its all about handling. The CR500af is a verry capable woods and trail bike. That is what I this video shows. Sorry it took me so long to reply I had to get the dictionary. :smirk:

So if the power isn't in the equation, how much better does the CR500 handle over a 250? Again not knocking the 500...

I think you are just toying with me. The aluminium chassi takes all the bad traits the old steel chassi had. It is much lighter and thinner Verry flickable. Plus the weight is much lower in the chassi than the 250f. The 250f fourstroke engine is heavier than the CR500 engine. I guess you will just have to pay a viset to Service PowerSports and ask if you can test one. Or you can find someone who has built one and test theirs instead. Again I am not saying buy one, I am just saying find one and ride it.

I said 250, not 250F.

Sorry I assumed you MEANT 250f. I will say I have rode a couple of CR250's an 02 and my sons 04. Yes they are lighter and a little bit easier to handle. My son's 04 was a sweet ride. But, he even liked my CR500af better than his 04 CR250. He liked the power and the fact of not having to shift as often. Can I ask you if you would take the time to go viset SH. You shouldn't be that far from them. After all I drove over 600 miles just to meet AJ and see the bikes in person.

James you should meet Mr500 at the 500cc AF store sometime and take some pics of this awesome bike for the forum. Sounds like you are pretty close to them.

After watching the beginning of the first video I found the first thing not to like about the CR500 in general. Its a bitch to start.

Now if your boys had the good CR250 engine. They'd probably appreciate their bikes more. The engine Im referring to the the 01 CR250 engine. Everything Ive read about it states that the 01 is the best 2T 250 engine that Honda ever produced. I cannot compare it to the other CR 250 engines as Ive only ridden the 01. But I can attest to the fact that it makes HEAPS of power mid range to WOT. And if properly set up correctly with gearing and the FMF Gnarly head pipe. Makes a serious amount of bottom end also. Never ran it against a 500 2T. But but geared with a 48 tooth rear sprocket for top end speed its got legs. I hang with nearly any 450 wide open set that way.

But she isnt just quick and fast. She handles good too. Not the same as my old RM 250. But pretty damn close.

dats right jack. Like a roller coaster tied to the rails :ride:

As soon as you start showing a bike in a race situation against other racers and say "see, it can do this or that against other racers" you have gone off on a tangent. It is now HEAVILY influenced by the rider which is in complete contrast to the title of the thread. Mututally exclusive.

You introduce an independant 3rd party and have him/her race the awesomeness that is the 500cc 2-stoke in race#1. You have that same rider race a (much better bike to be named) 450 cc 4-stroke:clap:  :hyper: :faint:again in race 2, you have at least removed the rider as a variable to the best of the test's ability.

Put that in your pipe and smoke (pun intended) it:whip:
