New Ride For The Boy (and me)

My son has been driving around a 62 Baja Bug junker for a few months, no A/C, no heat, no speedo, no wipers, not much of anything. Needs something to get him to school, soccer practice and games, golf and Civil Air Patrol meetings. Straight A student on top of all that so I thought what could I get him that would work for me too. Did not want a beast for a first time vehicle but many times I could sure use something like this. So after some looking around found this thing. IMG_0595.JPGIMG_0598.JPGIMG_0596.JPG

I will say that the Baja Bug got a little better mileage but he does not drive far. IMG_0594.JPG

No but most likely this coming weekend. :thumb:
There was gonna be a National race out in JV this weekend. Still might be, they will know more by Wednesday. BLM not issuing permits, shutdown and all. :blah:

Even if they don't have the race, the clubs are asking for people to show up, donate some $$ to help the 100's and Invaders recoup some of their costs that have gone into putting this together. They are still ribboning the course so after the donation people can go for a trail ride on the course to get a feel for what a National course feels like. Pretty cool. They could use all the support so if anyone ever wanted to see what a National caliber course would look like but you can ride it at your own pace, this is a great opportunity. :thumb:

Come on Rez, let's go for a ride on the National Course.

Never mind, leaving for AZ Friday after work.

Nice truck Dave, gas mileage should have been a factor, but with your money, no big deal.

Gas mileage was a factor and I found this truck with the 3.7 V6 in it. I thought being the 6 it would do okay but not as good as I was hoping. I did not want a V8 or the magnum for the boy as insurance is already more than I like to pay. It is not race car but it actually runs pretty good and it will serve him well until he is out of high school and then I may have to upgrade for me.

it ought to serve the purpose... as foir the 6 cyl vs 8 for that size of truck... the 6 has a lot of weight to push wihich is why it uses more gas. From what you've written, I'm sure it'l;l work out great.

Can I ask you public or PM, What do you pay for Jr. a year on full coverage for that truck? I'll go public because I don't care who reads or knows, 734.00 a year full coverage 99 Tacoma 4cyl single cab 5 speed. My girls were 1,125.00. Boys cost less to raise, groom and insure.
