My ktm has over 250hrs on the aluminum clutch plates..... might help that I dont clutch when I shift.... I feel like your kx is a lemon. For the record barcia's mechanic said sometimes they have have to replace the rings between motos (Not even a whole race ) However i know i have not had a 4 stroke, but with as much as my kx eats through clutch parts, premix, tranny fluid (alum clutch plates) and rings (not to mention my shock that comes from the deepest depths of hell) i feel like the cost's would even out with a top end rebuild every ~40 hours on a 4 poke

And by 'whole kit and kaboodle' you mean just the piston, rings, and can chain right? If your valves aren't going out of spec there's no need to waste money on replacing them prematurely. After shimming them 3-4 times is when I'd look into replacing them.As soon as I figure out the costs of Hollywoods top end I'll post it. supposed to get the whole kit and kaboodle every 50hrs.

Also depending on his riding style, 50 hours might be a tad much for piston and rings. Or you could go to 75-100 hours...
My manual actually says to replace the piston at 15 hours, same time that you're supposed to change the oil.I have to check the manual but I believe that it's piston, rings, valve, cam chain and guide that get replaced at 50hrs. Though I can't see it being much different than your kx. You are probably right on the amount of time and with him I would go 60 hrs unless he starts bouncing it off the rev limiter.
same, I decided to do 50 hours after doing reading on some other website that has to do with a rabbit. My manual actually says to replace the piston at 15 hours, same time that you're supposed to change the oil.
My engine is a 125 that has been bored and stroked to 193cc...An MX 125 wears ALOT quicker than a big bore woods bike
yeah i bet you do plenty of stroking......My engine is a 125 that has been bored and stroked to 193cc...
still dosen't change the fact that i ride/race a 125 that i constantly have to slip the clutch on to keep speed up in corners and rev the piss out ofMy engine is a 125 that has been bored and stroked to 193cc...
Tracks are wide open, outdoor is hard on small bore engines and clutches. Plus the starts.still dosen't change the fact that i ride/race a 125 that i constantly have to slip the clutch on to keep speed up in corners and rev the piss out of
