Unless I read that wrong, You meant TT v. DBA.

More people= more likelihood of very good riders. around 500? here, while TT has over 300,000...

Wow! :wow: I take off for the weekend to fly out to AZ to spend the weekend with my Dad for his 82nd birthday and come back to this? This thread started because a Left Coast DBAer and a Right Coast DBAer were having a convo in the chat box and I was asked where I would end up if I drove 20 hrs towards the east with my bike in my truck. I happened to mention that it would be cool to have a central meet to be able to meet some great easterners that I have flamed, virtually hi-fived, gave advice, received advice, shared stories, read stories, help add 5hp to their bike haulers :smirk:, jabbed, got jabbed, shared pictures, looked at pictures with etc to hang out and possible get some riding in. I know it would be a big trip and it would be hard for me as well to get that time off and head East to have some good times with these guys, but this thread was about who would be interested in such an event if it was do able to put together and where it would be best suited to have such an event. Hey a lot of things happen and don't happen when brain storming ideas.

It wasn't about the Epic Riding, but more the name to a face thing and sitting around the fire telling tall stories and sharing adventures. Heck I am nowhere near a track guy (though I had my share of track experiences in the past), but I would love to chase these young dudes, or old guys around a track for a few laps and let them laugh at me as I am taking my bike with a gas tank big enough to race the Dakar and gearing to give the highway patrol a run for their money a try. I would also like to be able to get in some woods and/or trail riding and return the favor to the MXers and after laughing at them and taking dirt nap pictures, picking them up and giving them a few pointers to get over the next section of logs/moon rocks.

To "Big Wave" Dave Woods - you are an awesome dude and ride some great "epic" trails/rides and thank you for looking at me as a guy who would not want to waist my time going on such an event and would rather ride these rides with you:thumb: You are correct, I would love to ride these type of rides that you so took the time to dig through your archive of photos and took the time to share with us and made sure we knew who each rider was and their outstanding background of achievements, but again this pole/meet was not intended to be that "epic ride" but an "epic meet". It wasn't intended for a who is the fastest DBAer on the forum or "hey let's ride for 15 hrs today, so we never have time to sit a shoot the chit with each other" event. Again it was intended to meet guys we have been chatting with across the internet for the last 2 years.

Big Wave (sorry, I just like that and you caused a big wave on here) - I am impressed with your back ground of racing history and all the great past super stars of racing that you know and ride with, but it is not necessary to come on here and remind us or throw that in our faces as I may not be able to speak for most of the guys on here (and Sun :) ) that we really do not care. I have a racing/riding past as well and when I came to DBA, I kept that to myself as I did not need to make myself look like I am this great rider and have the fear of some guys on here not wanting to ride with me or portray myself as a super rider and you are all not good enough to ride with me. I kept my little secret to myself for sometime, until some asshat on here called Weathergeek (:smirk: ) kept calling me out about my riding background so I started a thread and got it out in the open, but I still love to ride with all levels of riders. You can ask any one of the guys on here that I have ridden with, that I do not need to be out front running a buck ten all the time. I actually enjoy riding sweep or mid pack and sometimes I do get out in the front and lead for awhile. Do I still like to twist the throttle and stretch out the gears once in awhile? You bet and I will do that. I would like to take this time to all my West coast riders that have ridden with me in the past that I apologize for my riding habits. If I have passed you, roosted you, jumped off, up or over an obstacle, climbed up or down some hill climb while you watched or just plain took off down the trail, it was not because I am trying to show everyone that I am some badass on on my stand scooter, but I still like to see if this old guy can pull it off.

Alright I am rambling and loosing my focus.........Bottom line, this event could or never happen, but I give props to M33 for throwing it out there and I would love to try and make an event like this happen as I am sure and seen a lot of other guys on here would as well. Hey will it happen this season or next? You never know. :noidea:

CDA Out :ride:

My balls are always bouncing from the left, then to the right, I think it is delightful, my balls should be held every night! I'VE GOT BIG BALLS, SHE'S GOT BIG BALLS, But Dave Woods got the biggest, Balls of us all! :blah::blah::blah:
Come on Dave, Lighten up, it's a get together not a, "Who has Bigger Balls Event..." Yah, weed out the whiners, Kick out the talkers, but just like the Tday get-to-gethers, it's all about friendship, fun and adventure.
Well put...:hail:

i disagree with your attitude 100%. its people like you that make new riders go WTF.... thats the kind of attitude io got at TT and why i said fuck that place when i was new. i cant imagine that i would be so in love with this sport if DBA members who have taken me on epic rides had your attitude. i would have never got better and i would never have learned as manyu spots as i know now.

Many of us are also family guys and have no problem leaving the kids and wifes at camp for several hours to go on a big boy ride.

that elitist attitude is really shitty in any sport. i knew guys like you in BMX as well and i hated it.

you got to remember we all started somewhere and yea a big part of this is the social aspect... for me at least.
More good stuff.

I was so waiting for your response here. You (personally), are both the greatest rider I have ever had the pleasure of riding with and one of finest gentlemen I have ever met and camped with.:hail: God knows I am a scrub, but like others on here love to ride when I can. Have met many fine people doing this. You have the ability to ride with people like me, yet go out and do things on a bike I could only dream of while never making me feel like a scrub whilst on a ride (same goes for KTMRack:thumb:). So here I am reading this thread and trying to decide how to put into words what I am feeling from Mr. Dave Wood. So here goes....

I, sir, have great respect for a number of people, their various talents and riding ability. For you Mr. Wood, not so much. So, are you saying if some badass wanted to climb Mt. Everest and wanted you to go as a newb, you would feel the same way or would you feel that your riding experience would take you to all corners of the earth to deal with any potential adventures or mishaps? I personally would never want to go on a ride that "holds anybody up" because of my ability or lack thereof. I had an experience with a couple of dickheads and a flat tire issue in the desert where I needed help a couple of years ago. Their attitude reminded me of yours. (Some of you may remember that thread). That said, I know my limitations even though though I like to push the envelope once in a while.

I think that you are missing the boat here Dave Wood. Riding is not only riding, it is riding, camping, enjoying each others company, conversing and making new lifelong friends that would do anything for you in a moment's notice. Some already have for me. My kids are just about gone, so that is not an issue for me, but making compromises for "family rides" is never a problem, just like going on "big boy" rides aren't either. There is a time and place for everything in life.

We, as you probably have already noticed, do a big DBA TDAY get together. That started from TT but has translated nicely to here. I look forward to riding, camping and meeting new peeps every year on this trip. Rethink your position here. Dirtbike riding is far more than just going balls to the wall. Rant over.:faint:
