Shifting without the clutch?

  1. so if you are blasting up a hill at full throttle, can you grab a gear without even letting off the gas?
  2. Yes. At least I've had to do this before. There are times when the possible mechanical abuse is worth it.

Generally in this mode you were in too high of a gear and the revs are dropping out of the powerband and it's downshift or get stuck. On some hills that can mean a real problem. Now if you are upshifting instead, I would let off the throttle at a minimum as getting stuck isn't a problem then.

My bike has a real bad habit of finding neutral if I down shift 2 to 1 on a rocky technical climb using the clutch. If it's a loose hill then downshifting to first is useless anyway.
  3. So, let me get this straight - if shifting without the clutch should I be using 80w gear oil and if so, is more expensive oil better than cheap oil? Also, should I adjust the clickers or buy a new decal kit? :picard:
  4. With the right decal kit the gears will be invincible. :smirk:
  5. Graphics make any bike run smoother, quicker and basically like Mr cleonard said, INVINCIBLE! Heck, with the right ones you don't even need oil...

Your welcome in advance, now go out and get some cheap sunglasses...

    That's how I do it!:thumb:
  7. OH S**T I'm in big trouble then, just pressure washed a heap of cheap graphics off my bike, bad karma is about to kick me here :moon:

    A ;)

  8. I took all the random stickers off my bike, save for the graphics and the pre prints, thats why I haven't been feeling the love the last couple times!

  9. Hi again!
Lots of different opinions here, that's good :)
As I understand from all this it's no right or wrong, but question of comfort/durability.

In my gokart its very hard to use the clutch during shifting, because it's not a pedal on its own, it's a small handle behind the steering wheel.

The motor an 89mod (?, 5speed) and it has now started to jump out of gear while driving. As you can see in the latest video I have.

I'm considering replacing the RM125 with a Husaberg 650 (because of el-starter), and I don't want that gearbox to suffer the same.

BTW: I have no stickers on it except "Suzuki" in the front, maybe that's the reason ;)
  10. Try Rack's bike. He never uses his clutch. :smirk:
